I mostly review small-town, light contemporaries, romantic comedies, urban fantasy (UF), historical romances, steampunk, and historical and cozy mysteries. I founded That's What I'm Talking About, as a place to discuss in better detail the books we were chatting about on Twitter. My blog is a project of love, and I'm so glad to share it with you.

Audiobook review: Canines and Cocktails Anthology
Canines and Cocktails is a fun three-story anthology from Kevin Hearne, Delilah S. Dawson, and Chuck Wendig.
THE CHARTREUSE CHANTEUSE is an Oberon Meaty mystery, with the story shared from the POV of Irish wolfhound, Oberon. Chronologically, the story takes place some time after the conclusion of the IDC series, and running parallel to the Ink & Sigil series. It is fun to catch up with Atticus and the gang, learning about their lives as they settle down free from the worry of Ragnarok and being hunted by various gods. Best for fans o ..read more

Audiobook review: White Trash Zombie Unchained by Diana Rowland
White Trash Zombie Unchained is the sixth and final book in the delightfully entertaining White Trash Zombie series. If you haven’t read this series, do not start here. This urban fantasy tale builds upon the events from each previous book.
Picking up a couple weeks after Angel literally fell apart while trying to save the Tribe, she’s fully healed and back to work and school. Things go sideways when a body brought to the morgue reanimates and shambles, and soon it’s happening across the parish.

Audiobook review: Winter Lost by Patricia Briggs
Mercy was changed by the Soul Taker; it damaged her magic and soul, and even after Z destroyed the artifact, she is not healed. This is a central and important piece to the plot of Winter Lost, which finds Mercy and Adam heading through the winter storm-of-the-century into the mountains of Montana. While their initial reasons for heading there are to find help for Mercy’s brother Gary, the pair finds themselves in the midst of a magical battle to save the world.
The Mercy Thompson series is one of my absolute favorites, especially w ..read more

Audiobook review: White Trash Zombie Gone Wild by Diana Rowland
Picking up a few months after the conclusion of the previous title, White Trash Zombie Gone Wild opens during Mardi Gras and the world premiere of the movie: Zombie Apocalypse!! The town is overrun with fans, tourists, and survivalists making things a bit hectic, especially when there is a murder victim who appears to have been killed by zombie hunters. To make matters worse, there are FBI agents poking around funeral homes owned by the Tribe, and Dr. Cherish has escaped Saberton Labs, taking pretty much all of the tribe out of ..read more

Audiobook review: How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back by Diana Rowland
Picking up a couple months after the conclusion of the previous title, our story finds Angel living a somewhat normal life, for a zombie that is. She’s loving her job at the morgue, she’s taking martial arts classes, she’s passed her GED and is getting help with her dyslexia, and she’s getting to work in the zombie lab with Dr. Nikus. Things start to go south when Pietro goes missing and it looks like the Zombie Mafia (now Tribe) has a trader.
How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back is a high-octan ..read more

Audiobook review: Gray Seas by Hailey Edwards
Gray Seas picks up Rue and Asa’s story roughly four days after the conclusion of the previous book. The team is trying to draw out Luca so they can give her to the Director, getting Rue back in his good graces and on track to make changes at Black Hat. Rue also worries for Aiden, who agreed to serve as Calixta’s heir.
Overall, I really enjoyed Gray Seas and like the direction the series is heading. The action is intense right from the get go, when a bomb nearly kills Rue and her friends. It appears that there are multiple assassins after Rue, Asa ..read more

Archangel’s LineageAuthor: Nalini Singh
Reviewer: Jen
Rating: B
What I’m Talking About:
Angels live for a very, very long time, so it’s not surprising that Singh jumps readers ahead in time, setting Archangel’s Lineage about 20 years after start of the Guild Hunter series, and roughly ten years since the end of the last Cascade. Things have settled down, and it’s a time of peace. I love that Lijuan and her reborn and Charisemnon’s poisons are finally gone. Yet, the earth itself seems unsettled and something is coming.
Archangel’s Lineage is one of my favorites of the series, and the best book ..read more

Audiobook review: White Trash Zombie Apocalypse by Diana Rowland
It’s been about six months since the previous book, and Angel has found herself in a stable routine. She’s studying for her GED, dating Marcus, and enjoying her work at the morgue. Her relationship with her alcoholic dad is stable and he continues to respect her rule about drinking at home. It’s all good until Angel sees Phillip, her zombie-baby, on the set of a movie production and then again at a fancy dinner event. Even though Angel just wants to live her normal zombie life, it looks like the fates aren’t going to allow it ..read more

Flea Market DragonsAuthor: Shawntelle Madison
Reviewer: Jen
Rating: B-/C+
What I’m Talking About:
Picking up a few days after the conclusion of the previous book, Nat and her family are on the run, trying to protect Nat from Diana’s vicious hellhounds while searching for a magic seed that will spawn a champion to help protect her.
While I didn’t expecting it heading into this book, it appears that Ferocious Flea Market Dragons may be the final book in the Flea Market Magic Mysteries. Overall, this was a decent wrap up to the series-long storyline of Diana the Huntress going after Nat. I loved ..read more

Audiobook review: Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues by Diana Rowland
It’s been a couple of weeks since Angel and Marcus reported their once friend, now known zombie killer, Ed, as missing. He’s been seen buying camping supplies and ammo; however recently, someone phoned in a tip that he is the serial killer chopping off the heads of his victims (that was him, but they were zombies). Meanwhile, Angel senses something off with a body they collect at a secret biotech lab, and when a masked man steals the corpse from the morgue, the head coroner lets the press lay blame on Angel. Knowing sh ..read more
