Widd Colby was born in Upton, Maine, and grew up on a farm on Rumford Point with his brother and sister. He attended Rumford Point Elementary School and Stevens High School. William “Bill” Garnett was born on January 28, 1929, in Jonesport, Maine. One of nine children born to Helen and Clarence Garnett, Bill had four brothers and four sisters. He finished school in his 8th-grade year to help his parents financially with their large family. He worked as a logger with a work horse to pull his felled wood through the Maine woods. Stephen Geneseo grew up in Milford, MA, on a farm with his two brothers, Louis “Red” and Gerald. Stephen sadly lost his father when he was just five years old. The boys worked together tending vegetables and pigs, operating the family farm, and caring for each other and their mother. Richard Hobart was born August 10, 1934, in Edmunds, ME, to his father, Richard (Sr.), a Veteran of WWI, and Marion (Macre) Hobart. Along with his brother, Charles, and a sister, Lucy-Rae, Richard and his family lived in Dennysville. Graduating from High School in 1951, he then went on to study Agriculture for two years at the University of Maine, Machias.
