By Charlie Dunne Patek Philippe Pink "Dorè" Dial Reference 3941J Unpolished & Extract This Patek Philippe reference 3941 in yellow gold is a rare and uncommon model from the early period of the amazing reference 3940. Whereas the earliest examples of the Patek Philippe reference 3940 only had a solid case back, Patek Philippe introduced the reference 3941 as the exhibition case back only model. This example for sale dates to 1989. Starting in the early 1990s, Patek Philippe made the 3940 models with both exhibition and solid case backs except for the platinum model, which only had a solid ..read more

By Owen Lawton Nearly halfway between London and Oxford, nestled on the bank of the River Thames lies Henley-On-Thames, a quintessentially British town. It’s a somewhat odd venue for some of the most intense rowing racing in the world. It draws juniors, amateurs and olympians alike, all daring to dream of winning a converted red box. Celebrating its 185th anniversary, the weather certainly didn’t hold back. In a particularly damp and dreary affair, athletes that made it to the weekend had to contend with higher stream conditions that followed the week’s rainfall. After all, Henley Royal Regatt ..read more

A Review of The Polerouter Book by Willis & Mazzucchi

By Charlie Dunne In the world of watch books, I prefer those that focus on a single model. Titles such as MoonWatch Only, Eric Tortella’s Blue Book Volume 3 (dedicated to the Patek Philippe reference 1518), and Fred Mandelbaum’s Premier Story: Breitling Premier, Duograph and Datora come to mind. The Polerouter book is a labor of love to a model that many watch collectors are passionate about, or at minimum are familiar with. The book is highly illustrative, which is important, but it has great balance with information and primary source material. It features a wide range of Polerouter bracele ..read more

The blue dial has developed a teal discoloration which is very unique and attractive. The insert and dial have a Bahamian blue vibe! The 18K yellow gold case has been lightly polished in the past, but is nice. For those lo ..read more

By Charlie Dunne Heuer Autavia Reference 3646 “First Execution” Unpolished One of the most attractive Autavias is the First Execution Autavia reference 364 which features “Big Subs” (or “Big Eyes”) from the early 60s. These early Autavias are considered “Holy Grail” pieces amongst the Heuer collecting community. The dial has a very beautiful patina throughout the hour markers with slight fading on the exterior of the 12 and 6 numerals. Often, these early Autavias get damaged within the white registers, however, this example has remained very clean. The two-register 3646 features a more symmet ..read more
