Ok, so I know we are lucky, my husband is back to light golfing (not using the driver until this week) active, and feels great except for the constant incontinence during the daytime hours. Unless he is lying down sleeping or lying on the couch he is leaking continuously all day going through maybe 10 pads. Is this something that gradually gets better, or all of a sudden? He continues to do kegals 5x daily and is beginning Physical therapy/biofeedback in 2 weeks. Thanks for any input. Is surgical intervention to help with this a possibility ..read more

On May 5th I have an RP scheduled w Dr. Vipul Patel. Been watching it for 4 years after it hit 5 ng/ml. Hovered around 7, then rose to 15. 4KPSA 50.1 MRI guided biopsy 6/10 cores positive. I worked in a hospital lab for 25 years and used to batch run PSAs years ago and would get that result and think "that poor SOB" - and now its me! And the last line is very telling - needed another path review. How much will this affect my career as a sales rep who flies every other week? Wondering about finasteride

Hi all! I'm new to the board as I have been recently diagnosed with a gleason score of 3+3=6. I feel very blessed that it is such a low grade, and at this point have decided on active surveillance. My doctor also put me on Finasteride. I didn't think much of it at the time, but after doing some research, I'm questioning if I should be taking this. Everything I have seen it is prescibed before a cancer diagnosis and there is a risk of a higher grade cancer. I haven't really seen where someone already diagnosed with cancer is prescribed Finasteride. I plan on getting back with my doctor to discu ..read more

My MRI results from last October (below) mention lesion in right mid gland with a measurement of 1.9 x 1.0 x .09 cm. I'm assuming this is the size of my tumor? Is this a length / width / and height measurement of the tumor? If so, is that considered a smaller or larger tumor? Can anyone help me understand this better? Findings Prostate measures 4.8 x 3.9 x 3.6 cm, with a volume of 37cc Transition Zone: There is evidence of mild BPH. PI-RADS 1 Peripheral Zone: There is a T2 hypointense lesion identified within the right mid gland of the peripheral zone, with prominent associated restricted diff ..read more

Things are going as planned I am leaking a bit, but not a big deal. Waited for The doctor to call me to go over the report. He told me the report was good margins were clear cancer was embedded in the prostate. But my curiosity got the better of me and I looked at the report. Was not happy that he only took out one lymph node I don’t know why it didn’t take more and everything looked good until I saw perennial invasion present and we all know that’s not good so I have now messaged him to ask him why he did not tell me about what are your thoughts? My story and looking for questions in preparation for surgeon consultation

My doctor has been monitoring my PSA for several years, thankfully. The last several years PSA readings have been relatively stable 3.096, 3.166, 4.231 , 3.826, … then 5.4. The reading of 3.86 was accompanied by a free PSA % of 13. And the free PSA % was the first alert that I need further examination. So off to the Urologist for the first time in my life. Urologist did prostrate exam, and said it felt very normal. But biopsy should be done. April 2023. Biopsy (I was awake in office…no big deal) came out negative on all 12 samples. Good news. Next PSA test in 6months. PSA test in November 2023 ..read more

Confused after MRI

I know I am in the early stages of possible PCA diagnosis as my biopsy is scheduled on 4/23. But I am really blindsided by this. I am 52 years old. I have absolutely no symptoms other then noticing some possible ED over the past year. My doctor ordered PSA test in on 2/20 and it came back as 14.97 and another test was conducted on 3/4 that came back as 16.86. I was seriously doubting these numbers being serious but I did follow up with referral to urologist. Dr said he felt a large nodule when he conducted DRE. MRI was scheduled and two lesions were found. One being pi rads 5 and other pi rads ..read more
