I was lucky enough to draw a NM muzzy tag for this upcoming season and this is actually my first time ever hunting elk with a muzzleloader. In fact, first time ever hunting with a muzzleloader period. I have a TC Triumph that I purchased for the possibility of drawing a CO muzzy tag as I'm kinda in no man's land with PPs. With the CO restrictions, I don't have any saboted bullets, only the Bore Drivers, but was looking at the Traditions Smackdown SSTs or maybe the Barnes Spit Fires. I guess...

I should be getting an Elk B tag this year for HD 213 in the Anaconda, Deer Lodge region. Does anyone know what the elk populations look like up there? Do you have any tips on where to go or what terrain is accessible/ inaccessible ..read more

Many areas I elk hunt have very little to no cell service. Often if I get high enough, I can get one bar. Enough to send a text but not enough to check weather or use internet ver well.
Has anyone used a cell signal booster while hiking in the back country? If so, what brand/model have you used, and did it work well ..read more

Well after a decade and a half the ol land of enchantment finally decided to grace us with another pair of elk tags. I’d like to try something a little different on the forums…
For those with experience in 45, what areas would you just NOT recommend going? We always go for gold in NM planning to not draw and head for Colorado so this year we’d like to avoid the Colorado experience and not be tripping over other hunters all week. This will be our first run at 45 but we’re fairly savvy on...

I know Flagstaff snowfall doesn't speak for the entirety of the state, but what’s your thoughts on back to back years with great moisture? This has not happened in two plus decades. I can’t wait to see what this does for antler growth ..read more

Anyone seen this?
A buddy sent me some screen shots. I haven't been able to see the full document. Anyone have it handy? I found a thread on Newburgs forum by one of the committee members.
Not gunna lie boys it looks freaking awesome!!!
They're wanting to open archery on August 25 and run it through September 31.
October is rifle elk and mule deer.
November is cow elk and whitetails.
The committee is looking at ways to reduce pressure. Which the state desperately needs. They're also...

I’m trying to decide if I should switch arrows for my elk hunt next fall. I am going OTC so I doubt I will see anything but I am still hopeful lol.
My bow is tuned up really well shooting Easton Sonic’s with an overall weight of 430 grains.
Shooting Mathews V3X 33 at 65lbs with a 30.5 draw.
Arrow setup has performed awsome on several big body whitetails I’ve shot.
I was planning on just using this setup for everything; TAC, whitetail and elk.
Any reason I should add some weight to my...

Anyone familiar with this GMU? Had a hunt lined up further south but outfitter lost the land so now they're pivoting us to a ranch near Dulce on western end of GMU 4.
