Did I have a panic attack?

Hey, I had something weird happen to me twice at school today and I’m not sure if it was a panic attack. I just started silently hyperventilating and feeling anxious for no real reason, the environment was just really loud and chaotic. My friend said it might be some sort of sensory overload thing causing me to have a panic attack, but I’m not sure. Some reasons I’m not sure are that I only had heavy breathing, I had no other symptoms, and I can also suppress it slightly if I try really really hard, and I was aware of it happening and I was just thinking, “Holy shit, am I having a panic attack ..read more

A great big thank you and farewell thread

I will miss this forum, even though I’ve used it less recently. I just feel like I shouldn’t let it go without a proper send-off. So… Thank you to all the volunteers and paid workers who set them up; Thank you to everyone who has shared their innermost thoughts, feelings and experiences on here. This is the place that taught me I was actually normal for a person with adhd, and I cannot tell you how important that was for my self-esteem. If people can forgive me for the many names I am bound to forget, I would like to say a particular thank you to the people who I feel I really corresponded wit ..read more

Yeah it’s currently bugging me. For information purposes: I have reactive attachment disorder (ASD) which means I am unable to form a regular proper emotional attachment to people. I also have C-ptsd. Both stem from childhood abuse. I have been abused to the point of sexual harrassment at 2/3 years old. I currently have a boyfriend who I live with. At the 8th of february it’s our 3 year anniversary. He’s my first. Never had a relationship before him. He did have a few girls before me. But hitting 3 years is also a record for him. However, the relationship didn’t just happen. I’ve had to work e ..read more

I just saw this article: medicalxpress.com Study shows cyclic breathing technique more effective in reducing stress than... At team of researchers at Stanford University reports evidence that people who engage in cyclic sighing breathing exercises see a greater reduction in stress than those engaging in mindfulness meditation. In their paper published in the journal Cell... The headline says: “Study shows cyclic breathing technique more effective in reducing stress than mindfulness meditation”. It seems an interesting finding. I’ve heard of cyclic breathing, but I don’t really know anything a ..read more

How to draw ideas

I liked this article and thought the same processes can be very useful to unstuck our own brains! This is somewhat similar to “just write” advice by Julia Cameron in her books – just write 3 pages every morning – write down whatever comes in your mind. Here the idea is to just draw! If your mind is blank just anything! Can this help us “get in gear”? Worth a try! If you also try this, I’d love to know if it worked or any other ideas! Struggling with 10 year old son
How To ADHD Forums

At present I’m really struggling with my 10 year old son. He’s constantly either 100 (full of energy, jumping up and down, jolly to the point of clowneske) or 0 (depressed, tired, flammable, tantrums). I’d love to read up on ADHD parenting. But apparently it’s not ADHD…. We went to see a therapist with him a few years ago. Back when the problems were less severe and more manageable. We were (and are) pretty sure his problems are ADHD related and wanted to get treatment before it became a real problem. But school didn’t see it. They keep him very strict and in the line. And he does his best to ..read more

I give up

Yeah this is the first time in my 21 year old life that I’m seriously considering to give up on my issues with my adhd. Particularly my motivation issues. I’ve exhausted every possible thing that “should” help me. I tried schedules, agenda’s apps, notebooks, bullet journals, lists, stickers, a million different reward systems, music, podcasts, making games out of things, a million different types of excersize, meditating, mindfullness, accountabillibudies. I got medication and have switched out once already on my type of medication (getting even other is not an option. Can’t pay for it), I hav ..read more
