Dr. Otto: You went through a massive physical change. I wouldn’t say change. Would you call it a change, an upgrade? What would you call it? A transformation, as it was, it could not have been easy that whole time. How did the breathwork affect you? Mel, give us the oversight of what you went through and how you transformed. Mel: I basically turned from caterpillar to butterfly. I did a bodybuilding journey. From October 2020 through October 2021, just a couple of weeks ago, I lost 30 pounds, got super strong, and stepped on stage in a bikini. What I found is that it wasn’t the physicalities ..read more

We Have Lost 1/3 Of Our Sleep!

Questions for you: Have we, as a species, always had difficulty sleeping, or is this a manifestation of the last couple of decades? Just in the last 100, 120 years, we have been monitoring just through basic surveys. In, like, 1900, the average worker would sleep about or be in bed at least about nine and a half hours because there was less access to light. It’s very expensive to have electricity and candles are expensive and so much of that time they’re sleeping, right? About 90% of the time that we are in bed, we typically want to be sleeping. That’s a good sleeper. When you hit 1950, still ..read more

Will Aliens Have Cool Music Like Us?

If there is an alien life form out there, do you think they have as cool music as we do? If an alien life form does not have cool music, then do we want to hang out with them? I love music. I was brought up on music. I have musicians in my family, so I definitely identify with that sentiment of the thought of being able to hear some other intelligent being’s idea of music, or would they even have a concept of music? I look at the fact that when we were sending out this Golden Record on the Voyager spacecraft, which, of course, Sagan was very involved in and when you’re deciding, what do you e ..read more

Ludicrous, If Not Idiotic

Here’s homework for you: With this time that we have, with it, what else do you want to learn? This is just me, but I find it to have the knowledge, the time, and the focus that we have with our added years that we don’t do more with it. This is just me, but I think we need to make a bigger impact upon our communities, upon our families, upon our friends, upon yourself, to be continually pushing forward with the education, with emotion, with the great fuel that we have. We start putting this all into play, and man, your next decades aren’t just time and a lazy river floating downstream. It’s ..read more

We CAN Do What Tom Brady Does
Empire Longevity Blog

Is there anything in here that Tom Brady does that you really can’t do? I could do all those. It then is the process of doing it. The biggest problem is that you’re not regimented. You’re not regimented like Tom Brady is. You can tell me you don’t want to be. I get it. I know. I’m the massive justifier. I will justify the crap out of everything. But the reality is this: If we want the results that Tom Brady has gotten, we’re going to have to do the things that Tom Brady has done to get the results that he has gotten that we want also. That’s the reality. Yes, we may not be able to institute a ..read more

I asked students the other day, “If asked you on your phone right now, this half of the class give me the top ten foods which you know are the most harmful for you.” This side of the class gave me the top ten foods which are actually bona fide healthiest things for you. I said, hurry up and go. Boom, boom, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand in fractions of a second. There were pages and pages and pages and pages of the stuff which showed page after page of the best foods, best foods, best foods, worst foods, worst foods, worst foods. I said, how is it in this day and age, how is it in t ..read more

“No wait, you don’t understand: It’s genetic!” How long I’m going to be around “it’s genetic?” It’s absolutely wrong. Harvard did a study a short time ago, came out of Harvard University in which they looked at and they asked the question, how much of your health potential is genetic, is made up hardwired in your genes? I’m going to ask you that same question, how much of your health do you think is actually hardwired, is actually genetic? Some people say, well, 50% or 75 or 100%? Well, I guess 100%. I’ve gotten 100%, many, many times as an answer. The answer that Harvard came up with was tha ..read more

What Did You Learn Working With The General Population?
Empire Longevity Blog

“What did you learn about working with the general population? What were the eye-opening things that you saw from that?” Some of the eye-opening things, for one, they need to move a little bit more than they do currently, movement is medicine. “They need to move a lot more than they do.” I’m just being modest, but, yeah, we need to embrace and bring on this culture of movement because movement is medicine, essentially. The more that you move, the stronger that you’re going to be, the more that you’ll be able to do in life. I found that working with the general pop that kind of speaks to that ..read more

You leave a mark. I’m going to tell you after my mom passed, I live in the same city that they lived in, on my way back from my day at work, it was the first full day I went to work after we had buried mom, and I went to my parents’ house, and my dad was there because my dad had always been. He’s watching 6 o’clock news, 7 o’clock news, whatever it was, he’s in his chair watching TV. There was a chair over there, which was my mom’s chair. It was empty. I knew mom wasn’t there, of course. The house felt barren, absolutely empty. This was a five-foot-tall Italian lady, and without that five-foo ..read more
