This has gotten really interesting. With one week left in the season, Lehigh is in a 4 way tie for 1st place with Army, Colgate, and Loyola at 5-2. Navy and Boston University are at 4-3. Army is playing Loyola. Colgate is squaring off with Boston University. Lehigh is at Lafayette which is 2-5 in the PL. Great opportunity this Saturday for the Hawks against #1 ranked Army. No way of knowing but this may be the first time Lehigh has ever played the top ranked team in the country. Army is the real deal so it will be a huge upset if LU wins. That said, Lehigh typically plays Army tough so if they bring their A game, it could be a dogfight. Goalie Nick Pecora has been excellent so far this year and he was the difference against Navy. Unfortunately, Coach Scudder’s job will be a little harder next year as none of the 5th year eligible players are returning. The opportunity was there to return the very potent attack unit intact but that won’t happen. Christian Mule is doing his Covid year at Syracuse, while Justin Tiernan is going to Michigan and John Sidorski to Rutgers. That is a lot of points to replace. This is a resume builder for Coach Cassese. He has a long history with Lars Tiffany, the head coach at UVA, and this puts him as the #2 at one of the best programs in the country. Next to Syracuse, UVA has the most high profile assistant coach in D1. Coach Cassese has always said his goal was to win championships.
