How often do you stop to measure your successes? I find it is usually easier to remember the difficult times, but in this moment, I would like to honor all that we have accomplished.
In the past 10 years since starting Modern Macramé, I have traveled the world teaching plant and wall-hanging workshops. I always dreamed of traveling for work, and I was lucky to be welcomed to teach in Mexico City, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Kyoto, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, and many more places. I visited our rope supplier in Turkey. In 2018 wrote a book about macramé that finally paid out the advance this week ..read more

When New York-based fiber artist Krystal Nadrutach started out on a simple home improvement project to redecorate her daughter's bedroom back in 2006, she wasn't able to find the crochet pattern she was envisioning in her mind to complete the remodel. So, she did what all crafty mamas do: sat down and came up with a pattern of her own. "I broke a few crochet rules along the way," Krystal explained to our team when we asked her about the pattern's development, "and the construction was definitely not typical." And, unknowingly at the time, neither was the journey this new crochet granny sq ..read more

Back in December of 2020, we were scrolling through the Modern Macramé Instagram feed when we saw a post by @denissemvera with the caption: "WATCH AND BE MESMERIZED."
The video that caught our eye was a collaboration between couture macramé fashion designer Denisse M Vera, professional roller skater Keon Saghari, and bag designer DeLata. With an out-of-this-world macramé dress swirling in the wind as Keon skated her way around Los Angeles, we were captivated by the whole thing and had to connect with the woman behind the gorgeous wearable macramé.
