Griffin Survivor Ipad Cases

Years ago, I used to buy Griffin Survivor Ipad cases for my clients. I stopped buying from them as they seem to have disappeared from being on sale in many places that used to stock them. A client of mine that I have quoted some ipads for, would like to get some Griffin Survivor cases as he was very happy with the ones we bought ten years ago. They were absolutely brilliant. However, I can't find any reputable places selling these cases anymore. Just companies I have never heard of and frequently they are only selling the pre 2019 models with no stock for current models. In addition, it looks ..read more

Trying to assist the IT support for one of our clients. They have a Buffalo LS220. They are able to scan to FTP, however when they try to use the same shared folder to use standard scan to folder it always returns a "file location not found" error. Also of interest when trying to configure fax archiving to save faxes to the same location using FTP it always an error that translates to file name already exists, even though they are using a unique suffix on the file name. Anyone here been able to successfully scan to a folder on a Buffalo? extra notes, tried all levels of SMB on and off, tried t ..read more

I'm trying to knock out this secure score recommendation in Defender, and for the life of me I cannot seem to get it cleared out. Curious if anyone has come across this and successfully got it to clear. So far, I've ran the recommended script under each profile, for every both user and our service account directories on our mac devices, and no luck Text sudo chmod -R og-rw /Users/ I also saw elsewhere online to include the Shared directory, that did not change. Any help is greatly appreciated. Forewarning, I don't know what level there is below n00b, but that is what I am when it comes to m ..read more

What's your take? Should antibacterial tech solutions be in the mix?

Hey folks! Following our recent chat about keeping our computers spick and span, I dove a bit deeper into the evolving world of IT "hygiene". And, of course, that deep dive only escalated when I saw Eaton calendar's 'Product of the Week' section - Safe-IT antibacterial cables Opens a new window! I can see healthcare organizations utilizing this type of tech, but I was curious if this has changed and expanded. With shared workspaces and remote setups becoming the norm, cleanliness seems a bit more top of mind to some! Have you noticed a shift in how workplaces prioritize cleanliness/germs? D ..read more

Custom SNMP with Kyocera Printers

There is an older locked thread wherein a user noticed that the printer stopped working when the user changed the SNMP string from " public" to something else. Printer would print if the user changed it back to "public" https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2199575-print-queue-custom-snmp-with-kyocera-taskalfa-5052ci There were many replies with suggestions , but incorrect in my opinion. We ran into that problem recently and figured out the true cause. Hope this will help somebody else. On the local machine or the server providing the print queue, when you install the driver , the driver deci ..read more

Hi all, Not a debate chat, but more a question on using SSD's in a server, and configuring the server so it doesnt flash errors on the LCD thinking the drives are faulty (as they are non enterprise disks) I just bought a Dell R740 (used server) It will run 2 VM's, this is only a short term measure, maybe 10 months at most. 1 VM is a DC (24 users), and the other runs file server /sql express with an ERP. I found a switch to use in a config file so that when using the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator tool, it doesnt show an error for "non Dell flagged drives" .... But the server itself, on ..read more

WANsdays - "Upgrades"

Hi, y'all - Chad here. This week, let's chat about upgrades. You may know, there's a big one coming soon around these parts. As I type this, I'm staring at a work of dadgummed art that desperately needs an upgrade. It's a 2012 Fender Blacktop Jazzmaster, and it won't stop buzzing. So, I guess I'll start upgrading hardware. Which is basically the only kind of upgrade I enjoy. As a former solo-overnight-tech-support dude, I have felt the upgrade pains. I've had to page technicians on their vacations. I've had to call in backup and bosses hours before their alarms were supposed to go off for the ..read more
