There’s no better dessert combination than chocolate and peanut butter. Truly the most elite. My favorite dessert of all time are Reese’s peanut butter cups and chocolate chip cookies. This is specific too - I like warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies. And the holiday Reese’s - the ones that have a much higher ratio of peanut butter to chocolate (iykyk). It’s always bummed me out that the holiday Reese’s essentially go on hiatus between Easter in April and Halloween in October. Surely we could find another holiday during those 6 months to create a Reese’s shape for ..read more

15 Desserts to Try if You Have a Sweet Tooth

I love dessert. And, as a dietitian, I suggest eating it often. Let’s get a few things out of the way: No, desserts are typically not the most nutritious foods in the world. I’m not calling them bad - because no food is good or bad. But chocolate chip cookies typically don’t contain as many vitamins and minerals as broccoli, and that’s just a fact. Because of this, you might be under the impression that you should eat dessert only infrequently. Or drastically limit the amount of added sugar you eat. Wrong. As a dietitian, I highly recommend eating dessert regularly - especially if ..read more

Creamy Orzo and Chicken Thighs with Lemon Feta Gremolata

This meal is both hearty and refreshing and comes together in just one pan. I used to “not eat” chicken. I never necessarily called myself a vegetarian. I just didn’t love eating meat. It was a mix of a taste thing and an ethical thing. But, at some point over the past few years, I started craving it. I don’t know when it happened, because it wasn’t groundbreaking. I think there’s this notion in the diet world that you have to 1) label your diet and 2) have a grand “come to Jesus” moment when you change that label. One of (many) things I love about being an anti-diet d ..read more

High Protein Pizza Dip

I barely have words for this pizza dip. I mean, look at it. There’s always something so fun about a dip. Add bread, add veggies, or eat it plain. Sometimes switching things up and turning traditional foods - like pizza - into a dip is way to make food fun. This dip is fun. It’s also beyond delicious!!! You’ve got perfectly melty cheese and salty pepperoni. It also has a base layer made with Greek yogurt that makes the dip extra creamy and really ups the protein in it. Between the Greek yogurt, cheese, and pepperoni, this dip has a lot of protein. I love it as an appeti ..read more

Peanut Butter Cup Yogurt Pops

These Yogurt Pops are an easy, fun, and delicious sweet bite that you’ve got to keep stashed in your freezer. One of the biggest tenants of my nutrition philosophy is dessert. Not only do I recommend allowing all foods unconditionally, but also, if you love dessert I recommend eating it - often. This does a few things for your relationship with food and for your overall health. Firstly, it helps take dessert off a pedestal. Instead of dessert being something overly tempting that isn’t allowed, it becomes just another food that you like to eat. We naturally want what we ..read more

Should I Buy Organic Fruit and Veggies?
Sammi Brondo Blog

Picture this: you’re at the grocery store facing seemingly-identical watermelons–except one is $5.99, and the other $8.99. It’s organic, so it must be better… right? Let’s unpack that.   This blog post is written by dietetic intern, Madeline Lowney. Let’s start here: what does organic mean? Organic produce has not been applied with synthetic (human-made) pesticides and is non-GMO. It may still contain *organic* pesticides (derived from a mineral, plant, or naturally-occurring substance): the USDA has a list of approved pesticides (organic and non-organic), and amounts of these whi ..read more

Meet your new favorite way to eat broccoli: Broccoli Caesar Salad with Crispy Chickpeas and Toasted Breadcrumbs. I can’t get over how good this salad is. It’s packed with flavor. Roasting broccoli already makes it so delicious. I dk what it is about freshly roasted broccoli but it’s gotta be up there as one of my favorite foods. Then, add in some crispy chickpeas. They add a perfect crunch to the salad. Toasted breadcrumbs and freshly grated parmesan cheese add even more flavor. I’m telling you - each of these components on their own is delicious, but together, they’re o ..read more

Are Frozen Fruit and Vegetables as Healthy as Fresh?
Sammi Brondo Blog

I used to completely overlook frozen produce. That changed when I started working at a strawberry company, and, suddenly, had more strawberries than I could ever eat and a dilemma: what to do with them all?   This blog post is written by dietetic intern, Madeline Lowney. Besides giving them away to everyone and anyone, my solution was to freeze them. That led me to endless experimentation with frozen fruits–jams, salad dressings, smoothies, and everything in-between–and a new appreciation for frozen fruits and vegetables. There are so many reasons to love frozen fruit and veggies ..read more
