Big names Kento Momota (Japan) and Lee Zii Jia (Malaysia) crashed out today in the first round of the Yonex Japan Open 2022. While Zii Jia fell prey to India’s seasoned player Srikanth Kidambi, Momota lost to Indonesia’s rising youngster Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo. Kidambi told BWF, “For me, it was more about being consistent. Malaysia’s top shuttler and world no. 5 Lee Zii Jia has withdrawn from the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK from July 28 to August 8. Zii Jia has decided to skip the Games so that he can focus on the world championships later this year.
