well, i watched this buck for 2 months on my cam. he came in with 3 other shooter bucks every day 4 times a day, daybreak, 11pm, 3pm, 5pm like clockwork. every day all until a week and a half ago. In the past week and a half he was there 2 times.. Let me preface this by saying that I have been on many guided hunts, so this hunt was not my first rodeo. I will say that this was my FIRST mid west deer hunt and the overall experience was fantastic. Being able to hunt where Boone & Crockett bucks are living was a real plus. Traveled to Maine the week before Thanksgiving for my annual rifle hunt. We got snow as soon as we got there and had snow for the whole week. Tracked numerous bucks during the week, 5-8 miles per day, passed one, and ended up shooting this one at two hundred yards as he passed thru the back of a clear cut. Tried a spot where I have a ladder stand overlooking some thick cover on top of a small ridge. I hadn't hunted up there at all this year and was hoping something might be hiding out up there. Got a shot at this buck while up in a ladder stand. Buck was about 90 yards sneaking thru some briars and blowdowns. Used my Ithaca Deerslayer with the new Barnes Vortex 3" slugs.
