I just finished my second fully documented myco experiment. It’s all about UV-C and how it affects mushroom spores (cube, Lizzard King). The experiment arose from a curiosity about how UV-C affects bacteria and mold spores compared to how it affects mushroom spores. In hopes that mushroom spores are more durable, I tried to “clean up” spore prints using UV-C. I'm attempting and failing to grow mushrooms in those all-in-one bags (grain in the bottom, substrate at the top, like Magicbag). The mushrooms won't grow or if they do, they are extremely small and sometimes even blue as they grow. May be contaminated but looks more like dying mycelium to me. I'm looking for help on growing conditions and how to fix this current bag, if that's even possible. Thank you for any advice you can give! I am brand new to mushroom growing. In fact I've never grown before. I bought a lion's main grow kit and it started out a colossal disaster, it was already halfway done by the time it arrived in the mail. I started growing cannabis about 3 years ago with one seed and my 12"x12" tomato light. Thousands of dollars and tens of pounds later, I'm loving it.
