I've heard there is a better chance of finding morels in the same area the following year if you cut it about 1" above the base rather than pulling it out of the ground which sometimes takes the "root" system.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to this or evidence to back it up?
I've walked on the side of caution so far and have just made a clean cut above the base, just in case ..read more

As a total newbie, I've read that April-mid May is the best time in the Sierras to find Morels, though sometimes later in higher elevations like 6,000 ft. Will end of May be a bust if we plan a trip for then? Or is there a possibility there may be a few, if not a lot? Thank so much ..read more

I'm new to wooster area not sure where to go up here went to spangler funk bottoms Barnes trails vulture knob and a few random publis places I found road side with no luck in wayne county soon as u go out to Mohican I find some Mohican is just to far to go every day trying to find a place local been searching online for days an can't find nothin ..read more
