What you put ON your body matters just as much as what you put IN your body. I get a lot of questions about better options on personal care products, especially deodorant. I thought I would share what I use, especially since there is a one day sale going on and I LOVE to save money on healthier living!
Now there are a lot of reasons why I made switching to a non-toxic deodorant a priority. Not only are your armpits close to your breasts, but there is also a concentration of lymph nodes near our armpits. Conventional deodorants and antiperspirants contain aluminum, which has been linked ..read more

Do the endless chocolates, truffles, and candies that surround us on Valentine’s Day leave you craving a treat? But also wishing there was a healthier option for your chocolate fix? If so, I’ve got you covered.
I have read that over 58 million pounds of chocolate are purchased during the week of Valentine’s Day, but unfortunately those heart-shaped boxes are commonly made with ingredients such as: High Fructose Corn Syrup, Artificial colors, Tertiary Butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) and other food additives used to preserve processed foods and keep them tasting fresh.
Not exactly the kind ..read more

Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day?
The honest answer is that it depends on YOUR current metabolic health status.
Since I work with mostly exhausted women with adrenal and thyroid dysfunction, I can say: skipping breakfast as a daily habit is not a good idea.
If you want optimal health, you have to EAT! You have to fuel your body with nutrient rich foods to support your fertility, ovulation, thyroid, hormones, adrenals, metabolism, sex drive - ALL aspects of health rely on NUTRIENTS!
Speaking of adrenals, these glands are VERY important, especially for women, t ..read more

How does your calendar look these days? Is it filled with holiday gatherings, parties, cookie swaps, or any other food-focused festivities? If so, here are some simple strategies to help you really enjoy the day and avoid that sugar spike and crash!
1. Make all your choices conscious ones. If you are at a gathering and decide to eat more than you usually would, that is your choice. Know that there may be consequences, and let that be ok. It won’t do you any good to beat yourself up or feel guilty for your choices.
2. If you are going to someone else’s home, eat before you go. Have a good bal ..read more

Low protein intake can slow down your metabolism. I have found the majority of women that I work with are dealing with some form of an imbalanced metabolism. Higher protein intake is critical to speeding up a sluggish metabolism! And, most women aren’t eating nearly enough. Increasing protein can do wonders for your hormonal health!
Protein becomes the most important macronutrient as we age. That’s because, as we age, our bodies require more protein to preserve muscle mass, keep us healthy, reduce recovery time from illness, and improve overall quality of life.
A higher protein intake as you ..read more

Have you ever had your doctor run blood labs just to find out everything “looks good”?
But....you don't feel normal? Maybe this is all in your head?
You’re not crazy - there IS something wrong - but the reason you’re not getting answers from your doctor is because they are running incomplete blood tests and interpreting them from an allopathic range. These ranges are used to diagnose, as a diagnosis can be attached to a pill or a procedure.
Most allopathic docs aren’t trained in certain non-diagnostic markers and they are not trained in functional blood ranges which ar ..read more

What are the adrenal glands? Why are they important? The adrenals are small triangular-shaped glands that sit on top of the kidneys, and they play the head role in your body’s stress response system. They are responsible for producing important hormones that can respond to and manage stress, such as cortisol, aldosterone, and adrenaline.
Your adrenal glands will keep on trucking despite all the stressors stacked against them, however, they are not invincible! Stress, especially prolonged, is the death of them. You may feel the physical effects of stress when you drink too much caffeine ..read more
