Here’s why I don’t cold plunge myself, or recommend cold plunging for my clients.
The truth is that many women living in today’s society are:
✩ Not eating enough, period
✩ Not eating enough nutrient-dense, mineral-rich foods
✩ Have dysregulated thyroid and metabolic function
✩ Have a low body temperature
✩ Are struggling with some sort of fertility impairment
✩ Are sick/stressed/overwhelmed
And the list goes on.
There’s also a lot of other factors that determine whether or not frequent cold plunging is optimal:
✩ Is it summer? Or is the environment appropriate? A dip in a cold stream on a hot ..read more

To some of you, this might seem like the most basic post ever. You stopped drinking tap water years ago, and so you assume everyone else has, too. (At least this was me )
But it is actually quite shocking how many people are still drinking tap water!
What I’ve found is that most people simply don’t know just how toxic and harmful tap water is. Others do know, but have a misconception that water filters are too expensive and just not worth it to buy.
The average American drinks about 4 cups of water per day. That’s about 4300 cups per year.
We spend about 48 hours in the shower each year, and a ..read more

2017 me would be reading this post absolutely fuming, because OF COURSE almond milk has more vitamin D and calcium than regular cow’s milk….
And it’s healthier, because dairy causes mucous buildup in the gut, and causes acne…
Or so I thought.
My wellness journey has come with a LOT of unlearning.
Unlearning the plant-based milk piece was one that I fought pretty hard for a while, because I had it engrained to my very core that drinking milk from an actual animal was basically poison.
There’s a lot of confusing information out there on animal products, and the big food industries that are pumpi ..read more

‘Tis the season of breathing fragrance air everywhere you go
Family’s homes, friend’s homes, malls, stores, hotels, etc. are all pumping the Super Sugar Spice Gingerbread scented candles at this time of year, and I’m getting a headache just thinking about it.
Although this post is directed mostly at the Christmas scents we’re being exposed to around the clock during the holiday season, people are still burning scented candles in their homes 24/7, year-round.
It begs the question…
Do you really have chronic migraines, or do you just have chronic fragrance exposure?
Do you really have chronic al ..read more

A lesson from chickens: why we need winter
During winter, hens in colder climates stop laying eggs (or at least as many eggs as they do in the warmer months).
This is because the shorter days and colder temperatures tell their bodies to rest.
There are tips and tricks on the internet to keep your chickens laying throughout winter.
But, if you let your chickens have time off, they will live longer and lay eggs longer than if they don’t have a winter laying break.
Why do we think we’re any different as humans? That we don’t need a season of rest in order to have seasons of productivity and avoid ..read more

I know, I know. I just posted about winter, and all the changes you’re probably experiencing now that we’re in the thick of it. ❄️
But, I’m posting about winter again, because I’m noticing a common theme with my clients and with the women in my membership.
Every day, @wildlyonswellness and I are getting questions about things like dry skin, itchy skin, changes to sleep patterns, changes to workout and movements habits, etc.
I have even had these thoughts myself… “why is ____ happening to me right now?”
Let’s not forget the massive shift our bodies just went through, adjusting from summer to wi ..read more

If you’ve been following me, you know I am the queen of advocating for slowing down.
You can find a post from me that recommends slowing down in every season, because there’s so many benefits to less craziness in our lives.
However, winter in particular is an entire season that’s asking us to rest with less sunlight, colder temperatures, and the constant feminine urge to do things like bake, decorate for the season, and light candles.
If we act the same way year-round, and don’t take time to just chill, we will never be able to have seasons of crazy productivity, reach our big goals, and go ha ..read more
