Philip Sharp was born to poor parents and so outside the immediate benefits of social elites. He served in the US Army for 20 years rather than attend college after high school (though he has a degree now), so he hasn’t accumulated many impressive pedigrees. Robert Yoho is 67 years old. He spent three decades as a cosmetic surgeon after a career as an emergency physician. His generalist training gives him perspective and allows him to avoid favoring any medical specialty. He has had little dealings with hospitals, big Pharma, or insurance companies before he wrote this book. No one has ever considered him a “whale” prescriber or device implanter.
