Distribution, Networks & Metering • Re: Mains cable underneath Berm or register Easement?

Assuming teach dwelling is to be a separate installation: The supply for each (which only becomes "mains" when it crosses the boundary into the property that installation is on) has to be not just a separate cable; but can't share a wiring enclosure (such as conduit or duct). Every Council will have it's own list, but yes permission to work in the road reserve is generally restricted to a limited number of contractors / organisations. Whether easements are required when avoiding the road reserve will depend on how the developer has set up the property title(s). Nothing to do with Electicity ..read more

Hi guys, We are doing kind of the All-in-One services for one project in Auckland. The client requires all the mains cable for 9 x dwellings go to to Pit on the street. There are two dwellings on each side of the drive way in the front facing the street while the newly built vector Power pit are in the corner of the street outside the dwelling Lot 1. If the mains cable from the rear units, the cable have to be A) buried under berm through driveway and then get into the pit, or, B) through dwelling Lot 1 and directly get into the pit. So my question is, If we go with option A, is the auckla ..read more

Clause (1) of ESR 24 says that "this regulation applies to any standard low voltage RCD that is used in a situation where it is required, by these regulations or by any standard, to be used." Not aware of any ESRs that absolutely require an RCD to be used; but at least two (89 & 89A) list RCD as one of the accepted options for complying with the requirement set by that ESR. So, if that option is chosen, then the RCD is "required to be used"; so must comply with ESR 24. Plenty of Standards require RCD for particular circumstances; and these are also "required to be used" so also must comp ..read more

Hi All, I have reposted my question from yesterday as I believe there was an issue with the site and my post has dropped off. https://www.se.com/nz/en/product/A9D118 ... pe-10000a/ My question was regarding these RCBO's and whether they complied to the ESR's as the neutral is not switched. Alec replied, referring to Reg 24 and Reg 84. A comment you made Alec which I am unsure what you meant, forgive me if I have the wording incorrect was " unless the RCD's were installed as an optional extra"? Yesterday when i refreshed the screen; i got an error message because the site was off-line. Today it's back, but with last "new" post being the question about the yellow sticker on some Schneider RCDs, posted 28 March. The response I gave has been lost. And presumably everything else since 28/3? Statistics: Posted by AlecK — Thu Apr 04, 2024 8:20 pm ..read more

Recently I saw a youtube video on a car review https://youtu.be/mfHFrgr63Pg in this case it was a Kona and it has a standard 230V 15A socket in it. Watch the video for the specifics. My question is - would this make it a transportable installation and have to comply with the relevant standards? but isn't there a specific exemption for cars? Where is the line drawn here? Protective Devices • Re: Schneider RCBO What does the yellow label mean?

This may seem obvious and a bit silly; but it's not. It's surprising how many practitioners think that because they 'always' feed top (or bottom); everyone else does too. Which leads to improper assumptions being made when accessing an unfamiliar switchboard; that the line side is where they expect it to be. Since Schneider have seen fit to provide a label for when device is bottom-fed; I presume they see top-fed as more "usual". Side note; as an apprentice I was trained to keep everything on a swbd either top-fed or bottom-fed; no mix-and-match. This is confirmed by looking at the installa ..read more
