So I bought two cheap wall lights that I planned to hook to a wall switch but now i find that they are operated by a rotary switch on the light, so can I just wire it and leave the rotary switch on and use the wall switch to turn it on and off? Kind of dumb, I know ..read more

I have an odd situation. I'm renting here and the dryer fails to produce heat about 1 in 5 times I run it. The first time it happened, the complex sent their handyman. The report mentioned something about flipping the breaker to remedy the problem. So ever since then, when it happens, I flip the breaker off then on again. And that works. The breaker is never in the off position when this happens. It's a double breaker. The breaker box is from the 80s or 90s. The dryer (Whirlpool WED4850HW0)...

I currently have 3 pendant lights over my kitchen island. They are very small and close to each other. I would like to remove the middle light fixture permanently and drywall patch the whole. I plan to replace the 1st and 3rd fixtures with matching larger light fixtures. I have not removed the fixtures yet to view how they are wired, but assume that the wiring comes in at fixture # 1 in it's own junction box, then exits that box and enters box #2 (the one I want to remove), connects to...

Hi,
We have a condo in Puerto Rico (NEC applies here). The walls are reinforced concrete. The service panel is recessed in a concrete wall, and all existing wiring in the condo is through metal conduits buried in the walls.
I need to add another 15A circuit, and will be running the wiring through a conduit outside a wall. What would be the easiest way to run the wire to the existing panel? Will I need to drill/chisel out the concrete adjacent to the panel in order to connect the...

I want to install a timer to control a well pump located at a pond on my property. I've installed a diagram showing the electrical configuration. The thing to focus on is the Bypass Switch (which I use to run the well pump continuously in the Spring to fill the pond). I'd like to replace this with a ST01 timer, but I am unclear what the wiring should be. Also, I have some confusion about the differences I'm seeing in wiring a contactor.
Here is the diagram of the existing...

First post but I've not been able to definitively sort this one out... so I'd really appreciate feedback from any electricians who've encountered this before.
Utility power feeds my house via a 200A breaker panel that is bonded. I have a circuit from the main panel that feeds a 200A panel in my shop that is set up as a sub-panel.
I am installing a solar system that will supply my shop 100% of the time and it will be the only source of power for the shop. The circuit in my main panel...

I have replaced 15 single pole switches and 1 3-way switch before. I am trying to replace another 3-way switch (Box 1), and I am confused about the wiring.
I am hoping that some of the folks can help me.
I have this multimeter if it's needed to check connectivity of the wires ..read more

From |15| side of the circuit breaker I brought a dedicated refrigerator #14 cable to thexisting wall outlet wired with #12 from |20| side.
(Brought home a fairly new 36" side-by-side refrigerator found athe curb.)
Existing #12 in the outlet continues to the other wall outlets in this "enclosed back porch made into a second kitchen".
(From the duplex outlet I disconnected the #12 . In theoutlet box, I wire-nutted the #12 to #12 continuing to the other outlets.
