Yesterday I bought a 1991 Ford E150 with Pathfinder 4x4 that I don't think is working

I am as green at this as you can imagine. I bought a 1991 Ford E150 Econoline with the Pathfinder 4x4 yesterday. I can't tell a difference between the 4H or 2H being engaged. There is a rolling sound emanating from under the floor near where the transfer case is. It's not like the rolling sound in sync with the engine or driveshaft but something a little less harmonic and frequent. Any idea where I should begin. I bought the van as a good little project to work on but also should be a very useful vehicle for our family. I guess the 4x4 is as good as any place to get my hands dirty ..read more

So I love my SWB 2003 Quigley. It is an amazing truck and has been an awesome ski, camping, driver. It just turned 160k and has shot out its 3rd spark plug. After the first plug I had the motor pulled and all the plug holes were inserted with the Cal Van kit. I thought I had this issue taken care of for good and it cost me 5k. Well I’ve lost two more post fix and am tired of this bs. I just got a quote for a Jasper 5.4 installed for 7800 with new rad, hoses etc. I am a big fan of body on frame and rain gutters. So I want to keep the truck and think this is the best way to go. The engine runs g ..read more

Hi, I have a 2006 ford e-350 6.8l v10. My catalytic converter was stolen and I am having trouble figuring out the correct one to order. Or even a straight pipe to order. The stock on the 6.8l doesn't fit with the Quigley conversion. Drive shaft and gear box get in the way. Any suggestions? Thanks ..read more

I've got a 2002 E350 7.3l Diesel with quigley 4x4, about 170K miles. I am near Moab, Ut. My rear diff is creating a little binding during sharp turns, especially after the vehicle warms up. I've had it checked by a good mechanic who suspects wear in the rear diff. Unfortunately he is not equipped to do the work. Can anyone suggest a place to get this worked on, the closer to Moab the better. Thanks In advance Glenn Kincaid ..read more

Does the Ford 2003 e350 7.3 cutaway (ambulance) have the same chassis / front end , as a 1995 e350 chinook concourse? I currently have a lift kit for the 7.3, but am wondering if it will fit on the '95 Chinook, since it has the 460 V8. I plan to do a 4x4 conversion and lift with some fabricated brackets from ML- Off-road. Thank you in advance ..read more

Hello everyone, Long time lurker, long time 4WD rig builder/enthusiast, first time doing a Van 4x4 conversion. I have a pristine '98 5.4l E250 short body style SMB w/ manual penthouse and I'm currently in the process of collecting the parts to do a 4x4 conversion. At this point I'm leaning towards going with the Timberline kit because I'm about to pick up a 2005 5.4l F250 parts donor which will give me the axles I need and I was hoping to use the 4WD 4R100 transmission and NP271 tcase out of it as well, but it's looking like I may not be able to use them like I had hoped. I assumed my 5.4l ..read more

Lwb 5.8 4x4 swap?

hey guys. has anybody done a 4x4 swap on a lwb with a 351 windsor(5.8L)? Im looking for input on the driveability with a 351 after a 4x4 swap. I really like the layout of the early 90's lwb rb50(?) with the two rear benches that fold into a big bed. there are a few in my price range with the 5.8. the thing is they dont make a ton of torque and the transmissions apparently arent great. whatever van i get I need to 4x4 swap, and Id like to start with something that wont be hell to drive afterward. if anyone has 4x4 swapped a van with a 351 Id love to hear your feelings about gearing and power ..read more
