This is my first day and first thread so I’m sorry if I do anything wrong. I know there are many threads on this already but I thought I would ask. I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma xtra cab and I am wanting to lift it 2-3” probably 2.5”. I am 16 and plan on doing a lot of trail running and 4Xing. Also because I am 16 I don’t have a huge budget. So I have been looking at bilstines, ome’s, and Eibachs, i have heard great things about all of them but i have heard bad too such as billys being to... 2003 sr5 4x4 lift kit ..read more

2004 Prerunner SR5 V6 Automatic A while back I had a used transmission (with 100,000 miles) installed after the original died. No issues and it's been running fine. But when I'm stopped at a light, if I shift into neutral there is a noticeable rough sounding disengagement and a slight jump forward as the transmission disengages... as if my foot is slightly on the gas. Then if I shift back into drive and then back in to neutral again there is no jump. So basically as I come to a stop the... Transmission Question ..read more

What’s up CT? The other day I was driving my Taco and I noticed the fuel gauge would go up then drop and slowly climb back up again within the same few minutes. I looked up the symptoms on the internet, some point to the Fuel Send Unit, some say the cluster could be going out. I was wondering if anyone out there has had this issue? Thanks ..read more

High Mile Oil and Gas

Whats up CT? I recently switched to full synthetic oil for my Tacoma after hitting 200,000 miles. I like to use the Mobile One full synthetic 5W 30. I wanted to ask what kind of oil you use on your truck and also what kind of gas are you using? I've only used 87 unleaded, because I feel like the 2RZ engine is bullet proof and its fine. But I was wondering if anyone uses different oil? and different gas? (like 91 high octane), and you think it has any benefits? Thanks ..read more

Radiator busted/ OEM Radiator Cap Update

A few days ago, I purchased a OEM radiator cap for my taco. As I went to put it on, I noticed a little bit of pink sludge on my radiator fins on the driver side. So I went online and searched for a OEM replacement radiator. Fortunately I was able to find one close to where I live. I bought a Denso radiator for $140. After thinking about it for a bit, I decided I would take the opportunity to replace the thermostat. It was only $30 more and such a small job (literally 2 bolts). At first I... I noticed there was a small leak coming from the oil cap. Even tho I was on top of regular oil changes and made sure that the oil cap was hand-tightened, snug, there would still be a little bit of oil leaking. I went on the Toyota forums and read that the oil caps have a gasket that can wear out over time and cause a small leak. I read somewhere online that the oil caps from the late 70’s and 80’s 20R/ 22R engines can fit the 2RZ engine as well. So I ordered this Toyota Oil cap with the old... Toyota 16401-0C010 OEM Radiator Cap for Tacomas years 1995-2004 compatible with 2.4L, 2.7L and 3.4L engines. I found mine in eBay for like $23. I googled it and found it for $17.85 on wholesaledirect(dot)moderntoyota(dot)com. I was looking at what maintenance my truck might need next. It looks like a coolant flush and a radiator cap is due. FYI: You should flush the radiator coolant every 2 years or 30,000 miles and replace the radiator cap every 5 years. It’s also highly recommended to... OEM Radiator Cap Tacoma 1995-2004 ..read more

Throttle positioning sensor voltage

Hello, I have a 2001 Prerunner V6 and I've been having troubles with mpg, loss of acceleration, hesitancy, and shifting problems. I replaced the throttle positioning sensor with OE about 4 months ago and still have the same issues. I even replaced the ecm with a used one that I bought online a month ago. So I was testing the the TPS and I'm getting 10 volts from it. Shouldn't it be 5 volts? And from my understanding doesn't the power going to the TPS come from the ecm? If all of that is...
