I'm going to be camping nearby after the show at Red Rocks on Saturday, so I want to go hit Slaughterhouse gulch on the Sunday. As per Ryan Boudreau and Mile-Hi Jeep club, the trail is now open and not subject to mud season closure this year.

Last fall I put a Premier Power Welder on the jeep. Since the install I've had a slew of odd electrical behavior. Some could simply be coincidence - but the coincidence list is longer than I'd anticipate.
I've spoken with the company and they are willing to help but have not heard of or encountered such problems. I purchased a replacement / backup regulator-rectifier and the same performance is noticed.
I'm wondering if the PPW system is putting out some stepped or noisy power to the jeep's electrical system.
I don't know if an oscilloscope is the proper tool to measure the condition.

I picked up Falcon Guides Hiking Waterfalls Colorado - A Guide to the State's Best Waterfall Hikes.
I'm gauging interest for for some wheeling and camping in the Ouray area for July. My availability is 7/10 - 7/16 and 7/25 - 8/6. I expect to stay in the area for 5 days, two days travel, making this a 7 day trip. Two days for wheeling and three days for hiking waterfalls. May explore the option of a large BnB split if there is enough interest.
I'll be hitting Black Bear and Poughkeepsie for wheeling.
I'll be investigating the following water falls to check off my list of waterfalls to hike t ..read more

I had a perfectly running (at least) twice rebuilt '77 AMC 401. Most recently rebuilt by me (because I let a bolt fall into the intake on a test drive...), so I know all the juicy numbers and exactly what is in it now.
Dyno'd at 250hp (SAE corrected) at the 33" mud tires. Oddly, after adding fiberglass wrapped short tube headers, Holley Sniper EFI and HyperSpark ignition control with a professional tune, crossover x pipe on the exhaust, best dyno run was 249hp... go figure. The late 70s heads just do not flow air past 43-4500 rpm.
After getting maybe 14mpg on highway at best and you can bet ..read more

From the pics, this looks nice....for the price, it would need a thorough look over, but honestly, if it's close to turn key and you got the cash....
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...c-890588b2fa3d
not that I have that cash available, and I do think it's a bit over price, but for what I see people pay for new jeeps and broncos and 4runners etc, then spend even more on the upgrades etc, this isn't really any more. Be nice if the auto trans was a 700r4 with OD instead of the TH350 or 400, and TBI instead of the carb. Oh, and the red seat needs to be black. If it had all that, I might be ab ..read more

Thanks to everyone that came out and made this such a fun day! I don't think we ever lined all the vehicles up to take a photo, here's the closest we got:
Bunce offered a surprising amount of challenge today for the seven rigs that came out to play. The snow was deep and slick in places, conditions changing throughout the day as the warm weather created melt and thaw. There was winching, kinetic recoveries, damaged rigs, and a whole lot of fun. We made it all the way to the closed gate at the south end before doubling back to the entrance. Great work by everyone that worked together to get ..read more

I like to run various calculations that may or may not have much meaning....I am totally fine if it doesn't have any meaning, I enjoy looking at the mathematical relationship and then trying to tie that to something more tangible or feel-able when driving. Much like my idea of start off ratio calculations a couple years back, this is in a similar vein.....been trying to get more out of crawl ratio calculations. The classic CR calc of Trans low gear x TC low range x axle gears is a great start, but I wanted to compare CR across tire size changes as well as highlight engine factors. Basically, t ..read more

Just signed up! Looking forward to running trails with the group. I've had a selection of 4x4's in my time, am currently running a JKUR. I'm also restoring a 1971 GMC Jimmy which is close to being ready for paint. The pup, Tota, is usually my shotgun. I've been on Lions Back a few times so that will date me a little bit:)

Hey Everyone,
Heading to Moab for the first time on May 9th and camping through Sunday May 12th. All of the reservable campsite are already booked, so I will be looking for any open first-come-first-serve camp spots when I get there Thursday afternoon. I will plan to try and find a campsite at Sand Flats rec area first, but open to suggestions. Since I don't have coordinates yet, you can reach me on my cell (336-601-5770). All are welcome to join for a group camp, the more the merrier! Below is tentatively the schedule of trail runs, but I'm open to whatever the group wants to do:
