See kids, one day your new truck becomes the older truck, and you end up doing the same shit you were doing on the old ones. But I will say the odds of shit going south have been a lot lower on a 9 year old truck vs a 20 year old truck. I can't believe for once I've lucked out ..read more

So now that im done rebuilding a set of leaf springs for my F250 (thread here) i figure its the perfect time to understand why i did it wrong Or maybe i didnt. Ive rebuilt a few leaf packs over the years, and ive never seen shims between the individual leafs before. Except for Excursions. For some reason, Ford put steel shims between each individual leaf. I want to properly size the sonotube for this application. I don't want a bus full of orphaned nuns to die in the process so I am consulting the IBB Brain Trust. A quick search online turned up some Canadian building site talking about 200' frost lines and 3X post width for diameter of supporting foundations. I... Read more ..read more

So, I've had a bunch of vehicles in my head. This is one, a 2wd, low TravelCrew as a counter to "War Pig V12". shortbus4x4 found the cab for me, and brought it out after he bought a bunch of shit that required a trailer hauled to the east coast and back. This one will sit a while, and as I find the parts I want, it will be dragged out and built. The chassis that seems like it will work is a 2013 GM Cut away van that was a 4500 series ambulance. I am looking for the factory air... Read more ..read more
