This past March, composer Lorne Balfe was at the MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Studios to record his score for the new Netflix film, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. The fourth film in the series was directed by Mark Molloy and stars Eddie Murphy returning as Axel Foley in his iconic role. Also returning is Harold Faltermeyers’ iconic theme from Beverly Hills Cop, which Balfe adapted into his retro 80’s synth and orchestra score. Last fall, composer Simon Franglen scored the highly anticipated sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. Directed by James Cameron, the film’s music was recorded at the Newman Scoring Stage at Fox Studios, and 20th Century Studios has provided us with photos from the sessions for a gallery to share with our readers!

Earlier this summer, multi award-winning, BAFTA and Ivor Novello nominated composer Richard Jacques was at the world-famous Abbey Road Studio 2 to record music for the new video game, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Six hours of music was recorded for the game, which used orchestra, choir, and electronics, recorded separately to comply with COVID restrictions. In February of 2020, before the pandemic changed everything, composer Marco Beltrami recorded his score for A Quiet Place Part II, the sequel to the 2018 hit film. Scoring took place at Beltrami’s Pianella Studios in Malibu, CA, using a 38-person ensemble of the Hollywood Studio Symphony. Originally slated to come out in March 2020, the film’s release date was postponed and moved multiple times before finally coming out today, May 28, 2021.
