Chinese phone maker Xiaomi is wading into electric vehicles with a $10bn (£7.3bn) investment over ten years. The company will be entering a fiercely competitive electric car market that also includes rivals Apple and Huawei.
Xiaomi will set up a wholly-owned subsidiary with an initial investment of about $1.5bn, with the company's chief executive Lei Jun heading up the new venture. "The decision was made after numerous rounds of deliberation am ..read more

Overview
Porsche is transforming its current lineup of luxury SUVs and sports cars into a veritable stampede of electrified steeds. Before the gas-powered 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster bid farewell, Porsche plans to debut an all-electric 718 EV that's rumored to be available in both hardtop and convertible variants. Few details are available beyond confirmation of its existence, but Porsche did say the electric 718 will ride on a newly developed sports-car platform that works to keep the vehicle as light as possible. Expect a rear-motor-only version to serve as the en ..read more

SINGAPORE – High certificate of entitlement prices are not quelling motor dealers’ appetite to grow their portfolios.
Premium Automobiles, the retail dealer for Audi, has just been appointed the distributor for Zeekr, a luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand from Chinese automotive giant Geely.
The agreement was signed in late December.
The showroom for the brand will be built in the Leng Kee Road area in the first half of the year, Premium Automobiles said in a statement sent to The Straits Times late on Dec 28.
The service facility will be in the Ubi industrial area.

Welcome to the future. The future of Porsche, at least, and Audi, too, eventually. Underneath that whisp of cladding and all the black vinyl is the new, all-electric Porsche Macan, the first product built upon Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Electric. PPE is set to deliver a new generation of high-end electric Porsches and Audis to boot. After a day of hustling a prototype of the new Macan around California roads, I'm here to say that the future is looking bright.
Bright, but also perhaps a bit murky. While t ..read more

Electric cars are known to be efficiency powerhouses, but how much can you really save?
Charging an electric car will likely cost significantly less than filling up an ICE car with gasoline or diesel. But, how much can you save, and why is it cheaper to run on electrons than liquid fuel?
Before looking at the price comparison, it's essential to understand that the lower ownership costs are not just about electricity versus gasoline prices. Here are some aspects of electric cars that yield lower overall fueling prices.
Aerodynamics
In typical gasoline cars, aerodynamics are essential but ..read more

Specifically Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha, with Toyota being a "special member".
When it comes to clean alternatives to fuel, much of the conversation is centred around electric vehicles (EVs). Every once in awhile, hydrogen engines come up, but these are usually talked about with regards to cars or larger vehicles. Four Japanese bike makers are looking to change that, as they have announced a research partnership for developing hydrogen-powered combustion engines for motorcycles.

As requested by @Volvobrick
Started even before I got the GLC Coupe. Was already looking at the Tesla for that first bite in EV, BUT a few things were not in order: 1. Infra, 2. Nascent stage and tech on all fronts, 3. Limited models to compare
2 years later, after much shopping and research, with the infra much improved, I went for it. These were the contendors:
1. Tesla
Would have settled for it save for it being commonplace like the Rolla and not having a dedicated showroom (now have) put me off. Also, the feel and overall façade of the T3 was a put off ..read more
