I am s/p ILC diagnosis, s/p SMX with immediate DIEP reconstruction 3/28/24. Early stage and no lymph involvement. Strongly ER+/PR+/HER2-. I met with med onc. last Wednesday and am given the impression that if Oncotype is done (pending insurance) and numbers favorable, she'll put me on an aromatase inhibitor and yearly mammogram. Follow bone density since I am already in osteopenia category. This seems very simplistic but might be reality. Is there anything else that is considered standard care for someone in my scenario beyond this? I asked if there would be any consideration for ultrasound or ..read more

is there someone who experienced or have skin itching after herceptin? my itching started around 10 months of receiving herceptin. i never thought about it because it was tolerable, but it has gotten worse that i have to take benadryl everyday, and because of that, my eyes are so dry that the over the counter eye drops didnt help-i now have to take the prescribed  one. When i mentioned this to my oncologist, he said it's weird, its probably just from the environmental allergens..I'm wondering if there are other patients who experienced skin , scalp ithing after herceptin, and any suggestio ..read more

Hello all! I was diagnosed with breast cancer after doing my very first mammogram this year. This Tuesday I go have my port put in, which I am absolutely terrified about ! I know it will be better than them sticking me in the arms every 3 weeks, but I still am not looking forward to this ! I go for an Echo on Wednesday, and then Thursday I start my first round of chemo. I have been in a constant state of panic since I found out. I have been through a lot of hard stuff in my life, but never anything quite like this. What does the port feel like? Will I always feel it in me? What will chemo do t ..read more

I am currently on anastrozole and have chose to use natural supplements to combat some of the side effects. I have shared with my oncologist my choice and he didn't express concern. I honestly don't know that he really heard me so I am going to follow up. My question is has anyone been told specifically not to take certain supplements to due to complications that could occur ..read more

Hi. I'm brand new to this site, and unsure about its inner workings and information sharing. But I am definitely just looking for support and information from others with similar experiences. I was diagnosed a week and a half ago with Triple Negative IDC breast cancer, stage 2, possibly 3. After a week of MRI's, CT scans, and appointments, I'm finally starting chemotherapy tomorrow. The main infusions are Taxol, Carboplatin, and Keytruda. I would love to hear from anyone who has had similar treatments, and definitely from anyone who would like to share some advice on what I should expect walki ..read more

So I searched high and low for this and seems the best I have found is from a company called High Definition Hair. They have some pretty unbelievable content where they show the quality of their wigs on their website along with their instagram (IG: high.definition.hair) and was curious if anyone has experience with them. I need something that is going to look really natural and last. Their units seem to last a few years and they can be sent in for maintenance to last even longer and they are just beautiful looking. Please help if anyone knows. Doesnt seem like there are many wig topics on here ..read more

Hey, at the end of February my wife Alice was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer, our lives changed immediately. We trying to keep it positive for our daughters Joana and Rachel, It seems that they don't quite understand what's happening, and why mom isn't at home. We tell them that mom is sick, and it weighs heavily on them. Have you encountered a similar situation, and can you advise on how to handle children to minimize trauma? Scared after focal asymmetry found in mammogram and family history
Cancer Survivors Network » Breast Cancer

So I had my first mammogram last year and it was normal. This year, I had another one and they found a 1.4cm focal asymmetry in the upper central breast, about 7cm from the nipple but no other suspicious findings at all. There's scattered fibrograndular density. I've read the chance of having cancer with that kind of density is low but I don't know how true that is. I'm 42. My paternal grandmother had breast cancer, resolved by mastectomy only on one side. No reoccurrence and this was at least 20 years ago and she was in her 70s. So she survived cancer. My mother had both ovaries removed to pr ..read more
