For the last 3000+ miles I've had a Bridgestone AX41 front tire, but I couldn't get a matching rear at the time, so I put a Shinko 805 on the back. A few years ago when I owned the KTM 1090 Adv R, when the TKC-80 rear tire wore out I put a Shinko 805 on that bike and couldn't tell much of a difference in behavior. It probably helped that I sold the bike before it wore down too far.
It was clear that the Shinko on my current bike was not getting traction as good as the previous AX-41 rear, but I waited until it was worn down enough to justify buying another tire. It probably could have done an ..read more

Well it sure didn't sound good....shifted into third on the road coming back from a trail ride....heard a very distinct metallic 'snap', the engine lost all power and heard metallic sounds before I pulled in the clutch and coasted to a stop. When I kick it, I find no compression in the cycle...nothing, but it does kick and I don't have any metallic sounds when I kick it.
It sure seems like I've broken a timing chain, cam, ring, etc based on that sound and no compression.
It feels like it has become a 'parts' bike - is it worth it to drain the oil and look for metal or pull the tank and scope ..read more

I can't find a security screen door for my front door that's 42 inches wide. No luck at all the local HW stores and only found 1 place in the Bay area that quoted one over the phone.
Bay Area Screens wanted $2900 for delivered, installed, tax included ViewGuard security screen. A bit much for my budget.
Any recommendations ..read more

I don't get to eat pasties enough so I'm riding to Placerville on Sunday to a Pastie bakery. They may also do pies. There are other places to eat in Placerville, but thats where I'm eating.
KSU 9am from Cordelia Starbucks: 4490 Central Way, Fairfield, CA 94534
Rough route is about 300 miles round trip from Fairfield. So its a full day. I have two planned gas stops, we'll be retracing our route on the way back.
I've ridden most of the first half of this (I've not checked out the detour to Birds Landing yet) and its as entertaining as it can be crossing the valley. Should be more interestin ..read more
