News Splash You all know the song ‘April in Paris’ – right? First featured in the 1932 Broadway musical ‘Walk a Little Faster’ and written by Yip Harburg (music) and Vernon Duke (lyrics). He’d never been to Paris so he had to get a brochure from a travel agent to get him in the mood to write the words…  In the song, a woman sits in a Paris café drinking wine. It’s April, of course. Hello and welcome to February, a month which often gets a bad press largely on account of the weather but which has actually got a lot going for it. You’re wondering what that could possibly be? Hello lovely jazz fans! And so we reach the last month of another highly successful Splash Point Jazz year. Where did 2023 go to so soon, without much more than a sniff of summer, not to mention a completely sodden Autumn! Looking back, we can see exactly where it went: in a flurry of top-notch concerts, from Elaine Delmar to Zoe Schwarz, and Xhosa Cole to Bruce Adams. Ah, Mr Bond… As promised last month, October is the month for those EXTRA SPECIAL gigs in London… covering London’s two top jazz clubs and London’s brand new and and most expensively-converted hotel (£1.7Bn !)
