Had my 11 year old sitting frustrated at the dinner table. Guess what? Mom got him some Japanese Godzilla BluRay collection from the Amazon marketplace. The discs are region locked to Japan and the European PS4 Pro just said “Nope” when he inserted them. Something the wife doesn’t even remotely care about when click-barraging that “Buy now” button. Unlocked dad mode and unpacked my shitty cable boxes from the dad cave. Got him a USB BluRay player his older brother used before, found a matching Superspeed USB cable and a 5V power adapter. Plugged it into his computer, installed the software th ..read more

It's a second shift job, 2-10pm M-F. I would hardly see my kids (5 & 2) at all during the week, just briefly in the morning. My wife would also become basically their sole caregiver in the evenings. I've tried to think of ways to make the transition easier, like I'll take over the vast majority of housework, I'll prepare dinners that just need to be reheated in the evenings, etc. Any more tips on stuff like that would be appreciated. I'm also just sad, I'm gonna miss my kids and my wife a lot. It's a really great job, pay is higher than my last job by $5/hour, union job literally 5 minute ..read more

Hey dads of Reddit! Every time I look after the boy I babysit who is 8 (almost 9) I end up having to clean up a pee puddle in the bathroom multiple times a day. The boy has ADHD so I am assuming he is probably a little impatient and is easily distracted and so I guess he just strays off target. I’ve asked him to sit if he’s going to make a mess, but he refuses since “that’s how girls pee”. I’ve brought it up with his mother (single mom, no dad in the picture throughout the boys life) but she just says “Oh that’s just how boys are”… I know boys aren’t always the best at this but we’re not talk ..read more

And we couldn’t be happier. My wife was an absolute SAVAGE, no drugs and some slight complications with her pelvic structure made it even more painful but she absolutely champed it out and is doing awesome. I never thought I could love that woman any more than I did but nope, I was wrong. Our daughter was a little bruised up but she’s looking great now, she’s eating like an absolute champ, she’s strong as hell, and adorable as can be. This is our the only girl of 3 kids so a fun new adventure for both my wife and I. Super stoked to be a girl dad ?? submitted by /u/ArcAddict [visit reddit] [c ..read more

Summer custody days

Question for all of you fellow dads. Setting up the days for the summer that I will have my kids. Told the ex that I don’t think that fathers days and my birthday should count against my allotted time. I knew she would not like it, as she is always unreasonable when it comes to giving me more than the minimum. This is why we are in a custody battle now. In response to my request she said she now wants “extra-time” so her birthday (October) and mothers day do not take away from her time. I always adjust my weeekends to accommodate her birthday and mothers day. I told her I am not asking for ex ..read more

Thank you all in advance so much for contributing to this and reading my story. Me and my wife are both having trouble with our 4 month old - we don't feel much of a connection to him at all and are a bit concerned. Our full story is below for context. We started trying to have a kid four years ago, during the pandemic. After months of having no success we ended up at a fertility clinic doing multiple rounds of IVF. Over a period of two years we did six rounds of IVF. Aside from the physical pain and discomfort of injecting needles into my wife's stomach every day and dealing with the side ef ..read more
