1980s Seiko 5 Case Swap Validity

Hello! I’ve been planning on doing a case swap with a Seiko 5 from the 1980s (7S26-3180) The movement is a pretty old one without some of the modern-day features and has broke down so I’m going to be upgrading it to a 7S36 or any other compatible equivalent (that maybe has hand winding unlike the 7S36). Since I find the dial great for a field watch, I would want to keep the dial and hands (and also maybe a crown from another donor) to fit the 38mm DWC Expedition Case Is this possible? Should I stick to the 7S36 or go with another movement? Where could I get a seiko crown from? Is there anythi ..read more

Winds, doesn't run

I have one of the skeleton models with a Miyota movement, about 2.5yrs old. Last week I set it down for more than a day since I wasn’t wearing it. When I grabbed it again and wound it…it didn’t run. Looks like the winding is fine (i can see parts moving and it feels the same as before) but nothing moves after it’s wound. Any suggestions how I should try to troubleshoot? I’m not familiar with watch parts beyond the few things that needed to be manipulated during assembly (like the release for the stem). 3 posts - 2 participants Read full topic ..read more

Hello! I placed an order (ORDER #DWC31258) on February 28, I payed for the express shipment and the product hasn’t been delivered to FedEx! On April 4th the label was created (yes, it took a week just to create the label), but they hadn’t received the package. There was a reason I payed for the express shipment and now there is no way I’m going to received in time… Please I need help so the package can be sent as soon as possible. Stem removal

I got the beginner expedition kit. When I removed the packaging stem could not really tell exactly what to press to remove it. You need a blow up of whatever you are supposed to press. Finally got it out- not sure exactly what I pressed. Got everything together made it thru placing hands and then could not get actual stem out when putting in watch case. Things fell apart then because second hand fell off others bent because I had such a hard time with stem. Stem finally broke. I am thinking of trying again but would need some confidence about what the heck you actually push down on th release ..read more

Ordered (order #DEC30303) two watches and tools on 10 February and am looking forward to building them. I reached out to Charlotte and Rachel at DIY and got a tracking number (SS2873045950463) and a picture of the tracking showing in Chicago but when I go to USPS they still show “Status Not Available”. Can anyone please help me? 3 posts - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Wrong Parts

I was building my watch a week ago, and while I was in the process I realized I was sent the wrong colour dial. This really ruined the (otherwise enjoyable) experience of making the watch. I’ve sent multiple emails to customer service to ask if there is anything to be done with no response. I have no idea what to do at this point as I would really like the other colour dial (the colour that I ordered). 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Is movement completely in the movement holder
DIY Watch Club Forum

I have the Expedition GMT kit with a custom dial (i.e., not the sandwich dial). I need to know if I have seated the movement completely in the movement holder. The dial extends above the edge of the movement holder, as does just slight bit of the movement itself (though it seems secure). Is that correct, or do I need to push it lower into the movement holder? 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more
