Dividends in ETFs

Probably a stupid question, but are dividends in ETFs taxed are eligible if the underlying company is? If it’s a mix, does the ETF provide an easy way to track it at tax time? submitted by /u/OwnVehicle5560 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is there a S&P 500 ETF that, rather than issue dividends, increases in value at a faster rate?

I've bought many VFV shares. I lose 15% of the dividend to withholding tax. Some people say it's not much. But what's better than losing a little is losing nothing. Is there an S&P 500 ETF on a Canadian stock exchange that doesn't issue dividends, but rather just grows bigger more quickly? UPDATE: In my inquiry, let's just say investing in the RRSP vehicle is not an option. Options in this case are non-registered and TFSA only submitted by /u/upcarpet [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is it wise to invest in TD’s TPU.TO S&P 500 index fund?

I’m drawn more towards TPU.TO rather than vanguards S&P 500 ETF because of the price difference. My question is, over the long run is TPU worth dumping money in every month? Any inputs would be great! submitted by /u/TheKidJrdn [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Understanding VFV and VOO in the current climate.

Hello, I'm pretty new to investing and trying to put a healthy portion of my budget to stable ETFs. I was looking into VOO and came across VFV. The way I understand it, VFV is the Canadian equivalent of VOO, and with Wealthsimple I can purchase VFV at $0 commission. However, due to the recent news about the Canadian economy and Trump's tariff, I'm concerned that the CAD will lose strength. My question is, are there other differences between the two and should Canadian investors consider one over the other? P.S. Please let me know if this belongs on the daily thread instead, I believe this is ..read more

Best Ethereum ETF?

Looking for the best ethereum etf with reasonably low fees. I read about a ticker called ETHQ, apparently it has something called staking? I don’t know really understand how staking works, I think you get an extra % the longer you hold. But if someone could explain it to me like I’m in grade 3 that would be awesome. I already own FBTC.TO and I’m happy with fidelity and the low fees overall, now looking for a solid ETH option. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Natethegreat1217 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Air Canada fundamentals compared to what?

I've been holding AC for years on and off. It has a P/E of 3.89. Silly low. Alaska Air has a P/E of 22. Delta P/E of 9. Amercian Airlines P/E of 41 I understand that AC is Canadian and is also 6% owned by the fed gov but how do I compare this companies numbers with other companies to see what is a fair value. To me, a pe that low seems like a great value. It's numbers are as good as when it was trading at 50$ per share in 2019. It was trading at the same price right now as it was when it had neg EPS in 2021. I never can figure out. submitted by /u/Outrageous_Hawk_7919 [visit reddit] [comment ..read more
