Hi all, I'm looking into buying a camera to use at weekends when I'm out and about, mostly on walks so landscape/wildlife/street shooting. I had an entry level Nikon DSLR about 10 years ago but didn't have it long before it was stolen whilst travelling. I've been looking and think maybe a mirrorless camera as I don't want to be carrying the weight and size of a DSLR around with me all the time. I've seen the Fujifilm X series like X-T20 or X-T200 and they seem to be 'beginner' friendly and... Read more ..read more

I finally got a refurb FZ300, and what a camera it is for a small sensor. I'm no expert like some of you here, but I am impressed by the zoom & quality it can produce. I've a long way to go before I can master I am just using AI at the moment. I went for this as wanted good zoom for visiting airshows. So will see how good it is then. Anyone else got/had one who would like to give me some hints on it ..read more

My Nikon Coolpix S9700 has given good service but has just developed a fault. When switching on the lens extends normally but then does not "switch off", it just clicks away until I remove the battery. Can anyone diagnose this problem and offer a possible solution? Thank you ..read more

I have seen several threads from those new to photography asking for help with starting up and making their photos stand out from the 'snaps' they have previously been taking. I thought I would start this thread off to help those people and those who are maybe a little more advanced can add their own tips too. Firstly, i have been taking photos since about 1982 when my mother bought me my first SLR (Canon A1). In the '90s i started to develop my own in a dark room in my loft, mainly B&W... Does anyone use this? I have just started using it. Its FREE. It runs on MAC and Windows. What do you think of it? Post hints etc here. Adobe Bridge is a powerful and easy-to-use software that lets you view and organize the files by renaming a group of them at once or by assigning colored labels or star ratings to them. Adobe Bridge is a part of Adobe Creative Cloud. It lets you organize the assets you use to create content for print, web, and video. Adobe Bridge... Read more ..read more

Hi All, I have a Nikon D5300 for some years now with a trusty 35mm/F1.8 and 18-140mm/F3.5-5.6 Nikkor lenses. We have a trip to Las Vegas at the end of April for 4 nights, 1st time there and the usual sights (inc grand canyon via helicopter) will be visited. I would like to capture some good images, particularly of the canyon and some of the Vegas strip. The camera is some years old, with the original battery that hasn't been charged for a few years (I really should use this camera... Read more ..read more

Background - I currently have an EOS 7D Mk2 and should be receiving a new EOS R7 along with an EF-RF lens converter later today For the last decade or so I've only been interested in bird and wildlife photography hence sticking with the crop sensor camera. I do actually want to do more landscape and general photography but the only lens I have suitable is an 18-55 kit lens I got with my 350D many many years ago. Eventually if funds permit, I would like to get a full frame body to... Read more ..read more
