Spring Migration 2024
Whatbird Community
by

Now that’s it’s March 1 I’ve decided to start this thread up! Around here, we won’t see the first Passerine migrants for another 2-3 weeks, but swallows, raptors, and hummingbirds have been underway for a couple weeks now. There’s also lots of birds singing and some starting to nest, while others have already began nesting for a few weeks now!    Hopefully this spring migration is good no matter where you are!  ..read more

Attachment Limit

I am trying to gauge the attachment limit but I can't compare my use of a third party hosting site to that of others that routinely upload directly to the Whatbird. I don't intentionally feed any other animal in my yard, so why do birds get treated differently? Throughout almost any park you will see signs that say, 'Don't Feed the Animals', yet many of those same  parks have bird feeding stations, why the exception for birds? Don't get me wrong, I am ..read more

Lots of fairly big splits/lumps which have a decent chance of passing were proposed this year. Will be interesting to see if they end up going through. https://americanornithology.org/about/committees/nacc/current-prior-proposals/2024-proposals ..read more
