Very sad to learn this morning about the passing of Days Of Our Lives legend (an overused word these days yet in his case, it applies) actor Bill Hayes.

Due to the strikes, the Emmys are only just now (tonight) being handed out despite the nominees having been announced back in April!
Several of the nominees have long since departed their shows. This is the 50th annual event, so they're going heavy on nostalgia.
The only "winner" I know for sure right now will be Lifetime Achievement Award winner Susan Lucci. But I'll live-blog the rest.

How common is it for people to call "soap operas" a "story"? I've seen them called "stories" in movies and other TV shows.
In THE HELP (2011), Mrs. Walters tells Skeeter to "Shhh!" as she walks in the door, "I'm watching my story..." all as an old episode of THE GUIDING LIGHT comes on the little portable TV in the background.
I remember some girls in high school joking about how their grandmas stopped the world everyday to watch their "story" when they were home throughout the summer...
