It’s been a bit quiet on the Cale front while my wife and I have been house-hunting. We also learned a minor fact about our favourite Scottish city, Glasgow, that we found quite bemusing when we were up there recently. No-one can deny that football—or soccer, if you live in North America—is one of the world’s leading sports. I was raised on the game by my Dad, who is a Spurs fan, and I still watch it on the box sometimes. I've also gone to games here and there with friends, though not many, mind you. However, another thing that can’t be denied is that football has been tainted by decades of ri ..read more

So...here's a short review of what's gone well this year...and what's not: (+) Hit over 60,000 streams of my music on Spotify! (See HERE) Started work on songs for a new EP/album Helped try and save a folk/mediaeval festival in Germany Sold around 150 copies of my book so far (-) Failed on getting a decent mailing list together (need to do some thinking about this) Planned to write book #2, but abandoned it (for now) Didn't really play any live gigs (partly due to the pandemic) So 2022 will be about doing more of the +ves, and hopefully less of the -ves. I do need to work on the mailing list ..read more

It's been a few weeks since the excitement of Paddy's Day! We couldn't celebrate together in person this year, but I made the best of it all the same. My online gig went well, I enjoyed a few Guinnesses, and my streaming stats for that day went through the roof! See below for proof ;) Now it's time to keep this momentum going strong, with my next Spotify release! It's a cover of a well-known song by an equally well-known artist. I'll give ye a clue: The guy's English, ginger, and plays the guitar. The song's from some film featuring small people, tall people, and fire-breathing dragons. ...o ..read more

Hey, how's it goin'? It's been a while, but yours truly is back with a brief update on what's been goin' on, and what's to come this week. For those of you who didn't hear, my wife and I are now living in bonnie Scotland :) Yep, we've moved up to Glesga (that's Glasgow to you) and we're settling in nicely in our new place. I've got my wee music room set up, where I've been workin' on a cover song that I think you'll recognise. AND: I think you'll know the artist too. Here are some clues: He's English, but of Irish descent. He's ginger. He plays the guitar. He just wants to dance...with his pre ..read more

A Happy New Year to you, one and all! It's time for a quick recap of how 2020 went, and why Cale should mean anything to you in 2021 2020 was a terrible year, as COVID-19 made for a year unlike any we've ever seen before. Nonetheless, I did manage to get my first novel Folk Springs Eternal written and released (see here), and I rounded the year off by passing 1,000 combined streams on Spotify. Not a massive amount, but a milestone nonetheless. By the end of 2021, I want to have cracked the 10,000 mark. Help me get there by streaming my top-performing song "Cate Maguire's Polka" here. 2021 is g ..read more

Well hello there. Thanks for visiting my new site! It's about time I uploaded a full, professional website for Cale, and now here it is. So what the hell have I been up to recently? I have been... 1. Sorting a mailing list out for Cale 2. Preparing a 2020 remaster of some old recordings 3. ...and finalising my debut novel! (subject: folk music, what else?) That's plenty to keep me going for now. Updates will be posted here as and when, but for now, take a look around my site and I hope you'll enjoy what you see. Please leave me a comment with what you think of my music. Thanks, take care and s ..read more
