Disney has finalized a licensing arrangement with Sony, allowing Sony's home entertainment division to manage Disney's DVD and Blu-ray releases along with all physical media production. This move unfortunately highlights the ongoing downturn in the physical disc industry. Netflix's decision last autumn to shut down its disc-by-mail service and the continued slump in disc sales underscore the impact of the streaming revolution, as reported by the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) in their... Terminator 2 on 4K disc only displays SDR

So I bought Terminator 2 on 4k blu ray and for whatever reason it only shows the movie in SDR. I have a SONY x800m2 blu ray player and it always starts HDR automatically in other movies. I was thinking, maybe its a bootleg disc? But it has the proper color and seems pressed. My player also detects it as a 4k blu ray disc, not regular blu ray. When I view a movie on my player, I can press the display button to see info about the file and it says 4k24p SDR when all my other movies say 4k24p... Cast BDMV folder to TV with Subtitles?

I have some ripped 4K Blu Rays that I cast from my PC to my OLED A80J TV. I use Media Player, and it casts fine, video/sound quality plays and looks great. But how do I get subtitles to show for the content I am playing? The 'subtitles' button is not selectable from the TV player settings. I downloaded subtitles from the web, and opened it with the Media Player app that I use to cast the BDMV folder to my TV. The subtitles will show when playing the BDMV folder on the PC, but when I cast... Cast BDMV folder to TV with Subtitles ..read more

I have a blu-ray drive that has had it's firmware flashed so that I can rip archive copies of my blu-ray and 4k uhd discs. Currently I have been using Makemkv but file sizes ar eso large 70-80 gb for UHD that I have decided to compress them some with handbrake. It is a tedious process to rip the discs then re-encode them. Can handbrake use a drive that has had firmware flashed enabling libredrive to function? - No longer need answer found out that for 4k it is involved and more cumbersome... I got Hogans Heroes back for Christmas, ripped it and have been trying to watch it. I've always used MakeMKV for everything and had no issues. This is the first time I've encountered what being discussed here and is frankly over my head. I understand what's happening but not how to fix it. What do I need to do differently when ripping the second time around? Software, Syntax/Arguments, etc... Wasted time ripping series ..read more

Riddick Series in 4K?

I jumped in the 4K realm about a month ago and so far so good. Exploring the movies that are in 4K already as well as on the horizon 4K movies. I don't see anything on the Riddick series (Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick, Riddick). My opinion is all 3 would make great 4 K transitions. I don't know about 4K/2K scan, but they look great on Bluray today, I think adding HDR/DV and 4K would be terrific. Looking for any information on these, but as of now, no dice. Conan the Barbarian (1982) 4K Arrow Release Discussion

I'm eagerly awaiting this title to arrive. I'm grateful that Arrow Video has created a fresh 4K scan on this film. Preliminary reviews of the video quality is overwhelmingly positive. My biggest concern is the film score, which is the best best part of this film. Universal botched the Blu-ray in 2011; the choir tracks were absent from the battle sequences which completely ruined the intensity of those sequences. Universal never reissued the title (did anyone notice?) It was a complete... Conan the Barbarian (1982) 4K Arrow Release Discussion ..read more

Add "Resume play" with bdedit?

Hello, I'd like to add the resume play function to my Blu rays that don't have it already. Can you do this with bdedit? I want to do this without ripping the Blu ray. I want to edit the blue ray disc itself so I can just watch the disc itself. I've read that if any uo( user operations) are prohibited, then resume play will not work. That's why resume play doesn't work on some blue rays. So can you edit the Blu rays with that program and do this? Anyone have experience doing this. I... Add "Resume play" with bdedit ..read more

I'm looking to take TV series that I own and rip them from DVD onto Blu Ray, I'd love to be able to fit an entire season on one Blu Ray and preserve the original menus of each disc (or get to a point where I'm comfortable creating and editing the menus). Can someone point me in the right direction of software I'll need to get started? Thanks ..read more
