I've always been a fan of Romance novels, with Nicholas Sparks being my all time favorite author. No matter how hard I looked, I could never find another author that gave me the same feelings as Nicholas Sparks did, until I discovered Corinne Michaels a few months ago. I started reading her Whitlock Family series and right from page one of Forbidden Hearts, I was hooked. I immediately dived into book 2 of the series, Broken Dreams, and I cannot wait to read book 3, Tempting Promises, which will be released on February 22nd, 2024.
Corinne Michaels has revealed the gorgeous covers ..read more

Book #18 | My Child is Missing | Lisa Regan | Bookouture | Pub: September 8, 2023 | Pages: 366
Book #18 in the Josie Quinn Series.
I can’t believe I’ve read 18 Josie Quinn books! I’m definitely a huge fan of the series, however, I’m sad to say this one wasn’t my favourite.
Don’t get me wrong, this series continues to be interesting and enjoyable, I might just be getting tired of the police procedural genre as it took me a while to read this book while I usually devour these books in a couple of days.
In this one, Josie is still struggling with her past and demons, but sh ..read more

The Guest | B.A. Paris | St. Martin's Press | Pub: February 20, 2024 | Pages: 320
I’m so sad to say this was my least favorite B.A. Paris book.
I’m a hugeee B.A. Paris fan and I read/will keep reading everything she puts out, but this one was just not for me.
I found the plot to be intriguing, yet I kept wanting more. I kept getting confused about who was who due to the many characters who all felt identical. Undoubtedly, this would be considered a domestic thriller. The lengthy epilogue is where the reader learns what has been happening throughout the entire novel, and I admit I ..read more

Harper Adams #1 | Little Girl Vanish | Denise Grover Swank | DGS | Pub: June 20, 2023 | Pages: 385
I absolutely devoured and adored the Carly Moore series by Denise Grover Swank so I had to read this new Harper Adams series without a doubt! I had heard it would feature Skeeter Malcolm and I was excited, but it actually took me a while to figure out James Malcolm was Skeeter.
I was pretty happy though to learn more about James Malcom (a.k.a Skeeter), and I really loved Harper Adams as well, so I’m very interested in reading the rest of the series. I can see loads of character ..read more

Beneath Dark Waters | Karen Rose | Berkley | Pub: August 15, 2023 | Pages: 592
Trigger Warning: PTSD, Child Abuse, Torture, Rape
Book #2 in the New Orleans Series. However, this book can be read as a standalone. Some of the characters from Book #1 make a comeback but there are no spoilers or anything.
I would say this one is a slow burn, especially compared to the Sacramento Series (which I adore!) but it does pick up near the end and I couldn’t put the book down.
In good Karen Rose fashion, I loved the characters and loved that they always become a little family hub! We briefly heard about ..read more

Joona Linna #9 | The Spider | Lars Kepler | McClelland & Stewart | Pub: July 25, 2023 | Pages: 496
Book #9 in the Joona Lina series! This series is one of my all-time favorites! It’s almost taking over the Harry Hole Series by Jo Nesbo!
I Love Saga’s character development throughout this series! I’m really rooting for her!
In short, this book begins with a gruesome murder and a message from the killer that there are 9 further white bullets intended for another 9 victims connected to Saga and she must solve the clues to save the victims and ultimately Joona…and this killer doesn’t j ..read more

Book #2 | Megan Goldin | Dark Corners | St. Martin's Press | Pub: August 8, 2023 | Pages: 352
Book #2 in the Rachel Krall Series.
I enjoyed The Night Swim but I really loved this one. I would have given this one a 5-star, but I couldn’t get past the nasty social media aspect of it. I understand it was significant to the story, but the social media world described and the action of the people just made me annoyed.
Having said that though, the rest of the novel was perfection! Megan is an excellent author that brings loads of suspense and mystery to her writing. I also love Rachel Krall ..read more

Harry Hole #13 | Killing Moon | Jo Nesbo | Knopf | Pub: May 30, 2023 | Pages: 464
Book #13 in the Harry Hole Series!
I can’t believe I’ve read all the books from this series, and I still can’t get enough!
I can always rely on Jo Nesbo to provide a suspenseful, dark, and twisty murder mystery. I thought I had it all figured out, but I was so wrong. The suspense and twists and turns do not end until the very end of the novel! You just can’t stop reading.
In Killing Moon, Harry seemed to be quirkier than usual, and I was loving every minute of ..read more

Zero Days | Ruth Ware | Gallery/Scout Press | Pub: June 20, 2023 | Pages: 368
This book definitely started on the right foot, however, soon after it took a bit of a nosedive for me. The story kept me interested but the plot dragged, and it took so long before the action kicked in.
I’m a big Ruth Ware fan but so far, no other books have been able to compete with The Woman in Cabin 10 and One by One. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed this novel, and I can still count on Ruth Ware for atmospheric, binge-worth thrillers, but this one fell a bit short for me.

Shari Lapena | Everyone Here is Lying | Doubleday Canada | Pub: July 25, 2023 | Pages: 336
I’m so sad to tell you this was my worst Shari Lapena book.
Don’t get me wrong, Shari Lapena is my absolutely favorite author and I read and will continue to read all of her books, but this just wasn’t for me.
My main problem was all the characters were just so unlovable, and despicable. I just couldn’t find sympathy or care for the story. What saved this a bit for me was that this was a pretty quick read with different POVs so it did manage to keep my attention, but I just couldn ..read more
