"You mentioned that you don’t feel very comfortable talking to your mother. How do you think she would react if you talked to her about possibly seeing an OB/GYN?" Honestly, I don't really know. My guess would be that she would say I should only go if I have a really bad problem with my period/extreme pain, or that it's only for sexually active women. (I've had my period for years, and it's normal enough as far as I know. I should probably keep better track of it.) I don't know how much my mother knows, considering her history. I was born in vitro, though, so maybe she knows more about doctor ..read more

Hey there Atacatris, Those are all great questions! You've asked about a few different things, so I'll split up the responses accordingly. Seeing an OB/GYN: Lots of people are unsure if, when, and why to see an OB/GYN. Generally speaking, if a person with a uterus has started menstruating, is sexually active, or has any sexual or reproductive concerns, it is advisable to see an OB/GYN, especially for preventative care. The extent of what that care would look like would depend on the person. We have a couple of resources specifically on whether someone should see an OB/GYN, and what a visit t ..read more

Hi, I have a couple of questions about gynecologists. I have a friend who mentioned that they go to a gynecologist. I've read a bit, but I don't know much about what OBGYNs do, or what an appointment looks like. My mother's never mentioned them or had an appointment as far as I know. (She's also from a small town in different country, so things were probably different there. For example, she's never used tampons, didn't introduced me to them, and was pretty skeptical when I asked to get some a the store. She's also never taught me about cup sizes, and I still have no idea how that works.) Wh ..read more

Hi raily_, From your description, it sounds like you should have full protection from your pill, in which case Plan B wouldn't be necessary; part of why we recommend the "buddy system" with birth control is for situations like this one where a method fails unexpectedly. I will say that if you have anxiety around this, going forward it might make more sense to just stick to wearing condoms each time and the entire time , since they're more effective than withdrawal and give you protection from STIs on top of that. That does that sound like something you two can do? Statistics: Posted by Sam W ..read more

So I know I am irrational, but I need peace of mind. I take my birth control religiously. I have only been late to take a pill a total of three pills the entire year I’ve been taking them, and it was the next morning when I remembered to take them. I don’t take my “reminder pills,” but I do wait the week and always start that next Sunday on time. The only difference this month the the previous months of birth control is I am technically taking them an hour later than I normally do because of the time change. This month I have not missed or been late on pills, nor have I had any diarrhea or vom ..read more

Hi there, Bikinksterboy If your partner notices any symptoms, she can see a doctor- otherwise, she should be fine. I understand how you can just get caught up in the flow of things, and sometimes our bodies don't act the way we expect them to. Don't be too upset with yourself- apologize, and if something like this happens again, try to pause for a moment. Statistics: Posted by Latha — Sun Nov 19, 2023 9:51 am ..read more

I really should have said something to her right away but I was very much in the moment. She spent the next few minutes continuing with me til I orgasmed and only told her about the vomit after. She's very upset and feels I prioritized my pleasure over her health. I definitely should have said something in the moment before she kept going but I didn't and I didn't fully process the potential ramifications until after. I feel horrible. Really a 2 part problem here. One is health the other emotional Statistics: Posted by bikinksterboy — Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:10 pm ..read more

I accidentally threw up a tiny bit right at the end when giving my (long time of 6 years, tested) partner (Trans F) oral sex, right before she came. She's very concerned and upset that I could have given her a UTI. What is the risk here and what should we do? Statistics: Posted by bikinksterboy — Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:01 pm ..read more

Fun little update! (sarcasm) For the regular blood tests, everything is normal except for my iron being a bit low. My Lyme disease test was borderline. So now we’re looking into that Statistics: Posted by Jay27 — Sat Nov 18, 2023 12:25 am ..read more
