After my race engine builder buddy freshened up my long rod 400 he put together for my old boat I put it in my new to me aluminum skiff, set the timing and proceeded to dial in the a/f ratio with my Guage. Last summer I decided to dial in the timing. After finding the sweet spot I find I'm turning my B impeller over 5800 rpm. It gets great mileage and will do over 60 with the primitive welded hull and cruises at 40 at 4000 rpm. Would I gain anything to run a bigger impeller or would I loose... Impellor advice ..read more

Hi there, I’m a new boat owner and have a question about what BBC heads would be best for my application. For starters it’s a 1991 Commander 21’ open bow. Has a 454 big block that blew 2 freeze plugs out the sides of the block and cracked it. Luckily I had another with flat top pistons that is currently at the machine shop getting bored and having a custom cam made. My question is what heads do I go with. I bought this 1978 26ft Hawaiian Party Cruiser last fall. It had an engine that froze and cracked because it was improperly winterized in Minnesota. First order of business was to replace engine. I was going to build a blown 496 but ended up going with an E85 13:1 452 BBC to avoid having to modify the rear bench seat. Hello, I have a 20 foot. sled with Berkeley 12JG. Im installing and EXweld Trim nozzle and split reverse bucket. I have the Bennet pump with two solenoids. The trim is actuated by a single hydraulic piston with two ports. I have had the pump for many years, so long I can remember if I got it used or new? I followed or at least I think I followed Place diverters instructions for wiring the pump to a 3 wire turn signal style control. Hooked everything up, filled res, turned battery on... pal just got a 1969 stevens jet. original 427 bbc. berk b pump with an unusual steering arm and intake placement. the front half of the B bowl is inside the transom and just the second half extends out to the water. the boat is in very nice shape. it was someones love and they passed away unexpected so the "deal of a lifetime" came along to my friend. this boat looks like it was supposed to be set up for a V drive but a jet was used instead. it has a small scoop under the boat to take... 1969 stevens jet ..read more

I’m looking at purchasing a boat setup with a Volvo jet I think it’s a 4.3l. I want to convert it to the new mercruiser 6.2 370 jet ready engine with a berkley jet. I’ve been told the Volvo jet was basically a copy of the berklet 12jg. Does anyone have any info on the feasibility of a conversion? I understand I might have some glass work involved. Hey y'all, just joined the forms and this is my first post. I will be picking up a 1967 Weiman Jet Boat! I'm trying to learn everything about them that I can, there is not much info online about them and I dont want to try and resurrect an old thread. Like I said the boat is a 1967 Weiman Jet boat direct drive with a 396 BBC. To me it looks like the design is a Cyclone but not sure if thats what they called it in 1967.
