So I have done some reading in regards to this unit. With my 330,000 mile honey I’m assuming it needs replaced although I’ve yet to remove and clean/ inspect it. When reving the truck with the air cleaner removed I can see a jet of vapor firing into the intake manifold. It’s quite a stream of vapor. I have also removed the oil filler cap and was shocked to see very little to no blow by pressure on the open filler neck while throttling the engine. The truck does smoke at start up... Removing VE-pump anti-tamper cover w/o damaging it?
Oilburners Forum

Does anyone have a trick up their sleeve for removing the VE-Pump's anti-tamper cover in such a way that it is not damaged and can be replaced? Being in California, with a '88 Chummins with a VIN code that says "454", I cannot trust that BAR and DMV won't screw me and change my title/registration from diesel back to gasoline, necessitating another visit to the Smog Referee. As long as that doesn't happen (again!), I'm good and smog-exempt. But I'm leery of counting on that not happening... Read more ..read more

Double Cardan Front Driveshaft Parts
Oilburners Forum

I'm plodding along with my 4wd conversion and realized yesterday that the front driveshaft needs some work. This came out of a 1996 F350 that had the double cardan style u-joint. I've looked online and have a general idea of how they work but I'm having a hard time identifying the correct center bearing to get for the double cardan section. Can anyone share a link, source or way to identify what I need to order ..read more

Linking gas tanks

So I had an idea and I didn't know if it would work or if anyone else had tried it. So on my truck my Fuel selector valve doesn't work like on many other obs ford's. I was thinking if I welded a couple ports and connected hoses to link the tanks together if it would work as a way to bypass the fuel selector valve. I was thinking having the pickup on the bottom of the front tank and the return go to the back and link both of them together to level them off ..read more

Best radiator hose clamp?

Pesky worm gear clamp on the lower radiator hose at the radiator kept working loose. I happened to be at Harbor Freight and saw these. The largest ones fit. You must be registered for see images attach I had to use one at the barb end to seal it while I replaced the worm gear clamp, because it was trying to drain otherwise. You must be registered for see images attach I put an extra lock nut on for extra insurance that it can't work loose. Is it my alternator?

Lately it seems like if I have a problem it's got to be electrical related. Truck wouldn't start the other day. I haven't been using it that much lately so I figured there must be some kind of short draining the batteries. Charged the batteries back up but it seemed like they wouldnt get much higher than 12v. I started the truck anyways and realized that the volts wouldn't increase when accelerating. Seems like they barely want to get above like 12.2v (maybe damaged from alternator?)... Powerstroke 2 IDI no Turbo conversion
Oilburners Forum

I am running an '94 Eco IDI w/o turbo. My first IDI broke down some year ago and I still have this motor sitting here. The engine had a problem with the oil pump and it ran dry. Crank shaft, some rods and pistons changed color. Problem here in Europe is the limited availability of spares for our motor. Now I saw a Powerstroke motor (Excursion) for sale and I thought: "What does it take to convert a 7.3 Powerstroke into an IDI." And does it necessarily need to get converted into an "IDI...
