Goldendoodle Hair Length for Summer?

Hello! Our goldendoodle will be 2 years old in May. I have been having the groomer cut her hair with a 5 blade. I like the look but I also wondered if a 7 would be better for summer. She gets so hot that midday walks are out even before our St. Louis, MO summer heat and humidity really kicks in. I don't want it too short so she gets a sunburn. For those with experience, do you have any advice for her next grooming session? I get her groomed monthly. By then she needs a bath and the hair... Goldendoodle Hair Length for Summer ..read more

New nailgrowth dull

I have been noticing this change in Chester's nails for a while now, and up until this point I thought it was just certain nails. However, today I noticed all of his nails have the same problem. Chesters nails used to be black and shiny, as black nails are supposed to be. Though the new growth is this dull-black color. It almost looks and feels as if he chipped off the top layer of the nail, and that is what I assumed at first, but it just grows out like this. In the picture you can still... Does de-shedding really work?

I have a 9 month old Australian Shepherd. The hair doesn't bother me (I knew what I was getting into), but he could use some hygenic trims since he is kind of peeing on his fur right now. And now that spring is here, he is rather hot (I have two doggie pools and we live on a property with a brook so he has ample opportunities to cool down). He has not yet been to a groomer. I brush him and trim his nails myself without an issue, though I do go slow because of coures it's not his favorite... Does de-shedding really work ..read more

Hello! I have a 3 year old dog, he is an 80 lbs German Sheppard mix. He is really good about getting groomed, baths, or other general cleaning but he absolutely hates getting his nails cut. I cannot do it at home because it is impossible to hold him steady and clip his nails, but my groomer also cannot cut them because he will thrash around even if held. What can help get him used to nail clippers ..read more

Ozzy is my 6 month old Australian Shepard who lives in the house with us, but comes to the barn with me four times a day to feed my horses and "help" with chores He loves it, and I love the company. However, as our weather warms up a bit, he comes back in the house smelling like a barn. Which of course, was inevitable and something we're prepared to deal with to some extent, but sometimes it's pretty bad. I don't want to leave him behind of course because we both love his barn time, and... Dry shampoo? Help dealing with smelly dog ..read more

What does "Self-cleaning" fur mean?

Hatchi's mostly American Eskimo, I was told that his adult fur - which I'm not sure he has yet - should be self-cleaning. What does that mean? If he goes in a pile of mud & shakes, he'll be white again or that he doesn,t smell & his fur will shed dust ..read more
