As is the case every year, members of the Manitoba Trucking Association celebrated National Trucking Week in a big way! To kick off the celebrations, scholarship winners were announced on August 23. Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan are conducting a study that is looking for long-haul truck drivers’ views and perspectives on what types of amenities truck stops should have in order to meet their needs. With this information they hope to inform future renovations of existing truck stops in Canada (especially the Prairies) and make them better. Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced March 27 that Canada will launch a new economic pathway under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) to help employers hire skilled refugees and other displaced individuals. The new pathway will give employers more opportunities to fill a wide range of in -demand jobs, including truck and delivery drivers.
