Hearing back from testadmin

My friends and I recently took STEP 1 and had a lot of issue with our testing center. We all emailed [testadmin@nbme.org](mailto:testadmin@nbme.org). My friends all received emails back indicating that despite the issue they passed. I didn’t. All I heard back was that they investigated my issue and all my answers were recorded and that they didn’t detect any irregularities. Does this mean that unlike my friends I failed? Has someone ever received a similar correspondence and ended up passing instead of failing? My scores come out on Wednesday and I am kinda freaking out. submitted by /u/Comf ..read more

You guys I’ve been constantly on this community anxious and wanted to reach out with happiness and ideas for guidance. So April ~1st and 8th I took NBME forms 27 and 28 and got a 59 and 60. Yesterday I took my schools CBSE and I got a 72 I actually cannot believe it I walked out feeling SO bad and changed some stupid things I wish I hadn’t. Tip for test day

This may not work for everyone but I have a major tip for anyone taking step soon & this really really really really helped me: You’re gonna be staring at a screen for 7 hours. For me personally, after taking NBMEs my eyes burn and ache. On the real exam you have the option to invert the screen/ text color (I.e switch the background to black with white font). It’s a lot easier on the eyes and helps your eyes avoid fatigue. Test it out on UW first and see if it works for you. You get used to it after a while. The NBMEs don’t have this option and my eyes are burning so bad by the time I’m d ..read more

Is it too late to start USMLE at 38 years old?

I live in the middle east and I have been preparing for UK path for years but now thinking as a surgeon I have better opportunities in the US than the UK. I’m few weeks away from GMC registration to work in the UK but totally changing my mind right now. Is it too late to start all over? I have opportunities to legally immigrate to both countries. How long before I can get a good salary in the US? I’m looking at Houston as a potential state. submitted by /u/Effective_Fly_5800 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

All these people saying they feel like they genuinely failed...

I see all these folks saying they felt like they failed the exam but ended up passing. Are they over exaggerating? I feel like I genuinely failed because I felt short on time and missed some easy questions and generally felt like the exam was nothing like the nbmes, free 120 or uworld. I am waiting on my result and cant shake this feeling that I failed despite consistent 96-99% passing scores for 1 month before exam day. Anyone have words of wisdom? submitted by /u/Level_Information856 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
