A recent Dave Grohl quote has been making the rounds on social media about things like American Idol telling people they aren't "good enough" to be a musician. He relates his experience that Nirvana started as a bunch of kids with crappy instruments who didn't know how to play, but one day after just going for it... became the biggest band in the world.
