Brendan's Custom Harmonicas, Tunings, etc • Rattling sound in the lowest holes of Lucky13 Bb

Hi. I received an Easttop Lucky13 Bb yesterday (in Richter tuning). When I draw or blow through one of the first two holes, there is a rattling sound. It's especially noticeable when the note stops sounding. I removed the cover plates to check if it's because of the reeds hitting the cover plates, but the sound is still there. So I would guess that this is the sound of a reed hitting the valve. How do I fix this? Thanks for your interest and reminder! I'm on holiday for a few weeks, will make a note to do some final checks on a new Gasket-valve material I'm using for the Forerunner. Statistics: Posted by Brendan — Sun Jun 04, 2023 1:23 pm ..read more

Hi, I have east top forerunner and I would like to try it with your gasket-valves. When will it be available? is it also suitable for the new model, forerunner 2.0? Thank you. Statistics: Posted by tbone73 — Sun Jun 04, 2023 9:20 am ..read more

I suggest go on Amazon reviews to find a replacement. If there are many and they're mostly positive, you should be onto a reliable engraver. Mine are not expensive and they've lasted years. They use replaceable batteries. Statistics: Posted by Brendan — Fri May 19, 2023 7:04 pm ..read more

I haven't tried Krazy Glue, but what I use is either viscous (thick) Superglue, or Superglue Gel. It gives you plenty of time to adjust the position of the valve before it sets. Statistics: Posted by Brendan — Fri May 19, 2023 7:01 pm ..read more

Following something Brendan mentioned in a YouTube video, I got myself a cheap cordless engraving pen from Amazon to do some retuning. It saved me so much time and worked wonderfully... Until it didn't. This morning, with no warning, it refused to turn on. It was recharged last night, so I know it couldn't be a battery issue. Perhaps the motor burned out. So anyway, I'm now looking for a replacement. Does anyone have any brand/model recommendations for something that will last me more than a couple of months. I'm happy to pay more for something that will last longer, but I just don't know wha ..read more

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using Krazy glue over contact cement? I find the Krazy glue dries so fast it is difficult to place the valve in position before the glue sets. What is the amount of time one should leave the glue to cure to max strength for both Krazy glue and contact cement? Thanks for your insights! The OctaHarp Selectable is one of my favourite harmonica inventions, dating back to 2017. I'm happy to announce it's back again - by popular demand! The OHS now features Gasket-Valves, making assembly fast and easy. Here's the release video, combining as a Tech Tuesday episode: https://youtu.be/vgoXNIo_UbQ Webpage links etc are in the Description. I know what you mean... That traditional multi-part slide assembly is prone to leakage. Try using slider oil on the slider, and Vaseline between the stationary parts, to improve the airtightness. Besides the integrated mouthpiece/slider, I have designed a low profile two-piece 'self sealing' slide assembly for the Hohner 270/Seydel Deluxe type of chromatic, but never publicly released them. Maybe it's time to look into that. Statistics: Posted by Brendan — Thu Mar 30, 2023 4:52 pm ..read more
