Hey everyone! I'm new here, and am so glad to have found a forum that tackles issues that deals with parenting and other people's children. I have a 19 year old daughter, my fiance has a 14 year old son. My daughter has been living with her biological dad since she was 15 (VERY rebellious back then, but she has improved immensely). My fiance and I have been living together for 3 years now, and his son comes to visit every other weekend. The issue I want to discuss is: is it OK for my... Need a little advice ..read more

Hi everyone! There is an issue I have been struggling with for the past several months concerning my 17 year old step-daughter. My SD is gay and everyone knows about it except my husband. I stumbled upon some photos of my SD and her girlfriend on Instagram back in June and it clearly showed they were dating. I admit I was shocked about it but I decided to keep it to myself because I felt it was not my place to tell my husband about it. My step-kids... Step-Daughter Issues ..read more

My girlfriend of 14 years and I are having alot of issues. One of the major ones is that she says I haven't been there for the kids. When we met they were 10 for the daughter and 12 and 13 for the boys. They are now 23, 26 and 27. On fathers day I didn't get a card or any even acknowledgement. My long time girlfriend says that the kids don't feel like I am there for them. I guess she's right. We have been living together since 2005. I always helped support them and were there if they needed... How do I know if I was a good step parent ..read more

Hello everyone! I have a minor issue, and I'd like to ask for unbiased feedback. Thank you in advance : ) My husband and I are newlyweds, and we've both been married once before. I have one daughter (16) from my former marriage, and my husband has one daughter (7) and one son (8) from his former marriage. My daughter lives with us, and his children live 2 hours and 20 minutes away with their mother. We stagger weekends with our children, ie, on weekends my daughter is with her father, my... This is my first time in a forum but I am so at a loss what to do I thought this might be a good place to start.. I became a single mum at 20 years old, I raised my daughter by myself until she was 4 and then I met someone. We had almost 5 years of a very toxic relationship. Sometimes it would be great but he was very angry and my daughter and I were exposed to a lot of emotional abuse. I left him multiple times because I was scared and knew it wasn’t a safe or healthy place for my... Scared of toxic ex ..read more

Hello all! Hope everyone is having a good day. We are expecting my first/her second child within literally four days (excited/nervous does not come close to describing how I feel right now), my partners ex(Joint custody agreement), without speaking to her, opted to send his 7 year old son back to school, even while the pandemic is getting worse. This worries us for a bunch of reasons. 1) I worry my step-son will get badly sick with one of these news strains. 2) I worry that my step son... I have a bio daughter (8). I married and my wife who has a son(6). I do love him, but to be honest, the love i have for my stepson isnt anything near my love for my daughter. I do love him, but i'm not affectionate to him. I hug him sincerely, but i dont kiss him goodnight like my daughter. I'm in the national guard and am just returning from deployment. i come home in a few days. Its put a huge stress on our family. My wife claims that i dont show the same love to her son as i do to my... marriage in danger because of stepchild ..read more

Hi everyone. My girlfriend and her daughter live have lived with me for about 4 years now. Her daughter lives with us during the week and spends the weekends and summers with her dad. Basically she just stays with us when she is in school. Over the past years me and her daughter got along fine, but after this past summer when she came back to stay with us for school I noticed she would just walk in and not say hi to either of us and go to her room. She’s 17. I understand some of this... Need advice ..read more
