Hi all, I applied to get a .au domain a while ago, it looks like both .com.au and .net.au also applied for the same name. As both parties applied, it seems like we both have to pay for this domain annually, and neither one actually gets the domain. Anyone seen something like this in your account? Is it a case of both parties keep paying until one stops and then the other gets the domain, How does this work ..read more

Is this registrant working with Drop, or are they the same? In the past 24hrs they registered ~1500 domain names, all with Drop, but as I've seen this previously, the domains mysteriously end up being deleted, so they waive the registration fee, but most registrars put a limit on how many domains you can delete? I have been planning to start an online project for Australian users since last August 2023. I used a name suggestion tool to choose a name that sounds reasonable for the project. Let's call it for example, BIZNAME. The IP Australia and the business name search tools showed that the name was available to register. I have a couple of .au direct applications that I did NOT renew, yet when I check auDA's priority status tool (https://www.auda.org.au/tools/priority-status-tool) the applications are still showing as current, and the whois is still showing "Priority Hold" for those particular .au direct domains.
