Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? I'm in the process of moving my 92 year old mother into an assisted living community in north Florida. They just alerted me to a Covid outbreak. I was supposed to move her in a few days and not sure now what to do. The clock is ticking on her current rental apt and she has to be out end of month (in about 2 weeks). This was my big concern about these communities. She  has no dementia but is frail and losing her vision. I live out of town and there is no friends or family to help. I have a few hired care givers but thought a c ..read more

Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? I'm a new caregiver and looking for an in-person class in Denver. One where I can learn how physically help a person get up if they have fallen, help them into bed etc.  Also learn from others as I help my spouse go through life as they chance over time.  Any recommendations would be very helpful.    Thanks, Larry  ..read more

Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? Let's accept the critics of word searches before I discuss their advantages. word search are not well-known. There are many reasons to dislike word searches. They resemble busywork quite a little. They appear to be very low level. They appear to embody every flaw in the worksheet culture. When compared to cutting-edge goods and activities, they are absurd. They can be upsetting, particularly for students who struggle with learning. I'll be the first to confess that they aren't appropriate for all situations (but what approach is?). I'l ..read more

Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? In September 2022, I found out that my Dad has stage 4 cancer.  He found out in late July after going to the ER complaining of back pain. My Dad was working full-time, never had an illness or injury, and was generally a heathy guy with no bad habits. Fast-forward less than 3 months later, we are now at the end of chemo round 1, and he can barely walk and has lost 75lbs.  My Dad also lives alone, has tons of steps and stairs in his house, and has to continue to work because Social Security isn't enough. His mind has deter ..read more

Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? Although I wasn't looking for advice on writing a nursing process management essay, I did find some useful tips. One thing that many people forget to pay attention to is the requirements of the professor. This is what this post at hgunified.com is about. I am sure I misinterpreted the prompt at least once and that cost me points on my grade. If you have the option, it is a good idea to choose the right topic for your essay. If I'm feeling lazy, I tend to choose the easiest issues. I end up getting a lower grade because I can’t find a m ..read more

Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? I am new to being a caregiver.  My husband is 80 years old and was just diagnosed with mild dementia. He is still able to remember and do some things but thinks he is able to handle more.  He recently had shingles and because of the symptons and pain would not shower.  Now the shingles are done and he has not showered for over a month and is using the shingles as his excuse.  I have tried to encourage him by saying it would make him feel better for sure but he becomes agitated and I don't want to provoke him.  ..read more

Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? Hi Everyone, I'm currently a student for a design program and looking to design a Caregiving app fo school. This is based on my own personal experience as a caregiver for my elderly mother with kidney disease.  Below is a link to a google docs survey to gather information on what other caregivers might find most useful in such an app given their experience. Any help completing this survey would be greatly appreciated. It should only take a few minutes. Thank you, Kat   https://forms.gle/T1Ynho56LthocJ4KA ..read more

Communities:  I'm a New Caregiver... What Do I Do? Hello. Unlike most of you, I'm not a caregiver, I'm the spouse of a caregiver. My MIL, 90 years old, recently fell, broke her hip, had two surgeries and Covid, and is now on day 45 of rehab. My wife is staying in her Mom's house (600 miles from ours) and is helping her every day in rehab. I'm kind of on the outside looking in, and want to support my wife fully through this phase. Can all of you very brave and selfless caregivers give me some input on the kinds of things that I could be doing, given that my primary role is to support my ..read more
