Hi, I got a huge tear in my tarp from 60 mile an hour winds shredded against a tree. It’s an L-shaped tear 10” x 7” Almost corner corner the seam didn’t rip, but it went right down to it. I’ve never repaired Silnylon before, but I do have a sewing machine. I’ve been researching on how to fix this tear. I was going to do DIY silicone mineral spirits with nylon patch or buy the gear aid silnylon stickers or try to sew it with the patches and the glue, I read somewhere for a tear this big gluing on the patch and sewing would be the best method. And I haven't gotten much hanging in, either... but that changes this summer, as I'm planning to do the NEBDR with a small group of riders, and I'm starting to think about the worst-case hanging scenario... which is likely that I'll only be able to find one tree. Hi guys, just wanted to quickly post my recent project I finalized a few days ago. My brother wanted his 1st hammock and because he is also a 100kg guy, like me, I thought I should make a 70D double layer hammock, and order enough material so I can make one for myself aswell. I followed a tutorial on the german hammock forum for sewing a zipper bugnet to the hammock, Unfortunately I made a mistake when taking measures and all-in-all, I find zipper bugnets repulsive in many ways. Hi guys, I am about to start my 2nd DIY project next week. I have already ordered all the materials and they are on their way. I am planning a double layer 70D GE hammock, with a sleeping-mat-slide-in-opening. Since a week I have been gathering technical information,, and today I came across the "asymmetrical cut" of hammocks. Has anybody heared of that? First backpack build here. Mostly from scrap material I had laying around. I've started using grain bags as free fabric to work on designs. The waist belt still needs ALOT of improvement but the pack doesn't ride horrible. I've seen a few people build their packs here. Any pointers for the new guy trying this out? Hi! After having made my first hammock and loving the process I’ve decided that I want to make another one with a built in Bugnet (or if too difficult a fronkey style). However, I have a few questions that I was hoping you fellow hammockers might be able to help me with. 1. When sewing the zipper to the hammock, is this best done before or after whipping it? 2. Do you recommend fully removable or attached on one side for first project? 3. How would I go about measuring the net so that it won’t sag or be too tight once I’m in it?
